Will 'F1 25' be a Live-Service Disaster?

F1 25 is on my mind, and after coming across recent Codemasters/EA Job postings, it seems the words 'Live Service' will be very familiar soon...

If F1 25 bombs, you really ought to just start doing more of different racing games. No reason to keep working with a dog of a game, when there's a ton of different ones to try. Hell, going back to older games could be fun, get those modded - or better yet, alternate historical season, put your own team in like, the 80s or 90s. That'd be super fun to watch.

What slowly made NFL and NHL games worse each year was the fact EA won the exclusive contract. No competition means worse games each year as we have no other options. It's also happening with MLB the Show and NBA 2k. If F1 and other leagues actually care about their fans, they'll stop doing these exclusive deal, especially with EA who tend to ruin everything they touch.

The series was already on life support for a long time, but it completely died the moment the guy who made the Toolbox mod gave up, the game in its current state just simply not worth playing, even if it's free.

I know someone that worked at Codemasters - when EA took them over, apparently they sacked half of the Dev team to save costs and then made the Devs they had left work incredibly long hours, which resulted in more people leaving. I hate EA with a passion

No one talks about the great small touch 21 had of when the real cars have a 1off livery in real life it was scanned into the game for that weekend. So many small touches in 21 that really hurts the fan base when they play any game since 22. actually really sad to think how well the game was growing in 21 to where it is now

It’s also just the way of gaming today, not just racing games. The current mindset of big gaming development companies is have a live service that pushes as many purchases and mindless repetitive gameplay as possible to create a higher profit margin than the last year. That’s the only thing that matters to the companies like ea when they buy up developers like codemasters is make more money than the last year until the cancel the games because the profits no longer increase.

Bring back last years game model. (AI, Handling etc...), give us more than 10 seasons of career (eneable retire option for you to end the career), add F3 and give us option to do multiple championships in juniors (for example you can do 1 in F3 and 2 in F2, which means Junior programs etc will really much more meaning since you can jump in if driver in main f1 team leaves and it open spot)

I remember back in 2021 racing in the Codemasters forums championship that was run by one of their representatives. I'm disappointed for them because they have to do everything now according to what EA wants which prevents much of the creativity freedom to improve the game which the designers used to have. On the topic of the forums, the Codemasters forums were really well organized and I really liked the design of the website. When they were shut down and sent to the EA ones, it became much more difficult to navigate and communicate. Along with F122 seeming to be a bad game, the forums issues prompted me to leave the championship and I was sadly proven right to avoid F1 22 and I haven't gotten any of them since. Honestly, it's 95% EA's fault, if not 100%. Hello to any of you guys that see this comment that I used to race against back in F1 2021 in the Forums' Championship!

All i think they need to do to improve the next f1 game, is bring back ballast. Bring back classic cars, and introduce the new 2025 F3 cars. They also should bring in DLC's like new or iconic tracks we don't go to, like hockenheim & turkey. They should also bring out one title called F1 and use it as a platform that they add to over time. Like iRacing... Just a title they build upon. Kinda like f1 2015 when they also allowed you to drive 2014 f1 cars too.

Well the free jobs then also explain the lag of extra content like f1 23 for example from the real drivers also the special livery’s or helmets at this point in last years game we had 2 of max helmets (Miami, zandvoort ) we had the Monza Ferrari livery with race suits and the chance to unlock Leclerc Monza helmet then Williams Gulf livery got added around the Qatar gp I believe then it took no time to add max wdc helmet and also over the Texas gp we could get another Leclerc helmet the Touchdown in Texas helmet … this explains a lot for the lack of Live Service and live event like the hotlap challenge to unlock the helmets

I’m very much a light F1 game fan, buy the game every other year or so but I’m a big football fan and played FIFA for years. As soon as EA took over Codemasters, I knew the series was in trouble. I enjoy playing the F1 games I do but from 2018 to 2021 I didn’t bother buying any of the games and I regret it because they were the best that codemasters ever made, they had some really good tracks that we can’t get like Germany,russia,France, Vietnam,Malaysia, that’s one gripe I hate about F1 24 give us more track variety, we only have Portugal there’s so many circuits that I don’t like in the current F1 calendar after season 1 I just want to get rid of them and replace them with tracks I actually like, also give us the ability to make a custom calendar instead of using mods

I was initially turned off by F1 manager last year with how tedious it looked but it did catch on in later seasons, this year's has been far more interesting to follow than F1 24, the in team reputation initially interesting but poorly excuted especially in the late game as it bottlenecks your ability to progress, and the myriad of bugs is just such a turn off, I used look forward to a new F1 23 episode over F1 manager last year but it's the opposite this year, F1 24 is just bland and buggy at best
