So based on what I have seen, the FE's want to go, but only under their conditions. It seems as though they want to be able to go when they can lie about locations, results, etc. A prime example is the Behind the Curve movie. Bob tested with a gyroscope, didnt like the result, said he wanted to figure out a way to spin it so it doesnt say what it says, tried it again in a stricter environment and got the same globe-supporting result, then had a non-observed test that suddenly supported his belief. And it was THAT one that was correct. I predict that 0 flat earthers have the balls to accept the invitation. Although, by saying no, they are proving the globe. If it was flat, then this is a prime opportunity to prove it.

There is no speculation required why hes declining. On his last posted video (titled 'French student wants to do a paper on flat earth') someone asked him directly why. His reasoning was weak and mirrors what you are saying here. He doesn't deal with liars (yet by going he could actually prove they were lying). He's worried the trip wouldn't occur because the host's credit card would be declined which could easily be dealt with by a ticket before he left, and finally the trip is unnecessary b/c all you need is a 24 your webcam on Antarctica which would prove it's flat - which doesn't bode well that his claims that the years of footage shot from orbit proving it's a glove shouldn't be believed. I pointed this out as a reply to his comment and asked him to consider that by declining any credibility he thinks he may have goes out the window, forever. Curious to see how he responds or if he even leaves my comment up without deleting it.

I can't say I'm surprised by this. There was no way he's ever going to take part in something that will fully expose him a being wrong, and ruin his grift. I used to have the same opinion about him. I saw him having a conversation with Craig a few months ago and he said things like "that's interesting (no pun intended)", "that makes sense", "I'll have to read up about that", etc. He seemed sincere and I seriously thought that that was the final push he needed to get to the other side, but like I said this was months ago and he's still spewing the same nonsense, so yeah. He's definitely not open to be educated. The one thing going for him is that he's polite and a calm person in general (at least from the outside), but apart from that, he's the same as the rest of them.

Craig briefly brought up this experiment and Jeran and Austin immediately started coming up with ideas to explain away the 24 hour sun with nonsense, like it could be a fake chinese generated sun (I'm not kidding, that's literally what they said) and stuff like that. And then he went on record saying that this whole thing could be a plot to take him out and that the only way he would agree to participate is if at least an other flat earther is going. That way he would feel safer because there would be a witness to what they did to him, or they would have to take them out both, which is much less likely because that would be suspicious. So yeah, don't put too much faith in the guy. He will flip when he feels like that would benefit him in some way and only then.

@@crooker2 When I moved to a different country, at first I introduced myself as normal, but realised it's difficult for people to pronounce my name, so I started saying "My name is Janos but you can call me John". This got old pretty quick so I just said "Hey I'm John". After a while everyone I knew called me John. Can't tell you how many times I wrote John by mistake filling out paperwork. It's the same as when for a while after new years, you will write the previous year when dating a document or something. It happens to everyone. The human brain is very easy to re-wire like that. If you keep telling the same thing over and over, it becomes second nature. I believe this is why people like Jeran can make people believe they are who they say they are. I don't know how one becomes a flat earther in the first place. Probably mostly paranoia. I have watched David Weiss in a few debates. Unlike many here, I'm quite sure that he sincerely believes his claims. I have known and debated many Christians, including Pentecostals and Dave is as zealous and passionate as any of them. It's interesting that Dave used the word 'demons' in turning down the invitation - not suggesting that being a creationist makes one a flat earthers. Dave would realise that it would be unlikely that the organisers would set up a logistically-complex and costly exercise to achieve an embarrassing own goal - maybe the dumbest in history. He'd probably also realise that his hosts would not be able to create a fake sun. In other words, he probably correctly suspects that he wouldn't need a candle when he gets there. But Dave's beliefs are so entrenched, that if he went to Antarctica and saw the midnight sun with his own eyes , he would still think he is somehow being tricked. But how? Rather than relinquish his flat earth, Dave would probably prefer to conclude that his eyes are lying to him. That would not be not a pretty loophole for the true believer: Matthew 5:29: “If your right eye makes you stumble, tear it out and throw it from you"

When you take a video of a spacecraft hitting the ocean over the horizon and delete 11 frames from the NASA video to deceive people into thinking that Earth is flat, you are not believing your own snake oil. I think this boils down to fear. Why is there such an imbalance between Flaters and normal people on willing to go or not?I think if you think critically in life you are never afraid to be wrong. Infact to be wrong is an amazing day as you now have greater knowledge. For example, in his "10 things all flat earthers say" video, he says that buoyancy is not a force. But it is a force. His formula for the curvature of the earth is also wrong. These are just two examples that have stuck in my head, but there are more. And no, I'm not a flat-earther. The earth is 100% a sphere, but that doesn't automatically mean that everything the globe earthers say is true

I don’t think Jeran will go. I never thought any of the Flerfs would. Especially the more well known ones on social media. If one does I will be very surprised and I will wonder what shenanigans and excuses they will pull when they see the 24 hour sun. I can’t wait to hear what he wants from you, “in order to consider,” going on this trip. Will it be, as he whined about on his livestream, that he wants you to pay for all of his clothing and gear for the trip? Will it be for you to pay for his own personal security team so that he can’t be “disappears” on said trip? You’re already paying for everything as far as I can tell. Will it be for you to pay him out for the losses of his grift that he will accrue when he announces that the earth is a globe? I won’t be shocked if it is something outrageous that you cannot agree to or provide.

I would say its going to be near impossible to find a flatearther that wants to go, one kind is just selling a grift and the others would rather handling a venemous snake then participate in an honest experiment, sadly.
