Fallon’s format insists on an audience to succeed. Seth’s remote shows and shows without an audience were some of the most surreal and remarkably entertaining bits of late night television I’ve seen in a very long time.

@@lisettegarcia I think you are underestimating the thickness of comedy writers' skin. They probably write some of the stuff that makes themselves the punchline. It's probably also a great thing: not many shows, esp. on TV, highlight their creative staff but Seth does.

@@tree2me what can I tell you? One viewer's cringe is another viewer's comedy gold. I liked him better in the attic (lockdown 1) when his curmudgeonly shtick was (mostly) directed at inanimate objects. The thing is he is somehow never at fault in any of the personal anecdote mishaps. It's always his wife or the kids or his staff that are to blame as he tells it. So, I stand by my impression that he's an Ellen waiting to happen. I'd love to see Dr. Grande or an expert in facial expressions dissect the disconnect between his sad/guarded eyes and the incessant gleaming of his near perfect smile

Conan marked the realization of the proper Salic line of succession that was implied by Letterman, but was never fulfilled. Fallon cemented it, so it is only proper for Seth Meyers to have full legitimate and uncontested claim to the "Desk" my worries are the proximity in age, and the fact that Colin Jost is younger and with more star power. They are both in the bloodline of the Lorinian dynasty, so it may get messy. What will likely happen is that Meyers will abdicate to prevent a 3rd Late Night War.

Seth Killed this interview. Even though I no longer subscribe to the idea of usurpation. A Meyers Tonight Show/ Amber Ruffin Late Night is still my fantasy. But eventually there has to be room made for Colin Jost and his rising star. 'Cause let's face it. Network lines of succession are still Salic with Joan Rivers being the only exception, but that took her having to defect, and her line died out with the retirement of Arsenio Hall, and her titles claimed by Letterman. (The Original 'Late Show' was hosted by Joan Rivers on Fox (1986)

Up until this point the Tonight Show has only entertained Emissaries of Letterman by way of Paul Shaffer, who in his only right is a noble house with a bloodline in the Lorinian Dynasty that even pre dates Letterman by way of SNL. But as a Court Musician has titles but no claim to the 'Desk' HOWEVER Seth Meyers welcomed Letterman into Court directly which is significant. They will both likely Abdicate. Which means the Bloodline would go even further back to surprisingly JULIA LOUIS-DREYFUS by her marriage to Brad Hall from Season 8. With that combined with her being in the house of Seinfeld, she is a NBC royal. Not in direct succession, but if contested, she would have legitimate claim.

This is where it gets interesting. Samantha B has a dual bloodline. She could contest the Late Night desk by her ancestor Craig Kilborn who is the progenitor of the Stewart Dynasty. I would be more proper for her to be chosen to replace James Cordon solidifying the house of Stewart at CBS, but could also claim the Late Night desk in relation to her distant ancestor Letterman the defector.
