I was a local mechanic for a Japanese factory team that came over for the Swann International Series in Australia in the late 70s. The bike was fine but needed the fine tuning that all race bikes need for rider, track, weather etc. The Japanese techs that came over with the bike were “It’s a factory bike. It’s perfect don’t touch it” We had to break into our own garage in the middle of the night and change things and not tell them what he had done. It’s just a culture thing.

my dad was an assistant coach in the NFL, so professional sports has always been a part of my life and I like to think I know a bit of what the families of athletes/coaches/sports teams go through, especially when they're on losing teams. I actually started crying when zarco made Q2 at aragon, because i know what that kind of release feels like. not to suggest they shouldnt be held accountable for their shortcomings, but my heart does break for the competitors at honda. i can't say i know a lot about it but im confident the boots on the ground are gonna fight like hell.

Not a matter of if! It’s imperative they find there way back to the front.

I think Zarco could be the key to honda's bike improvement.

I think Honda’s reputation is too important to them to stop focusing on 2025/2026. But it would be interesting to know how the dynamics are going between the Japanese corporate leadership and the European race leadership. Hopefully they agree on their path forward.

This reminds me of the years when Valentino was with ducati. Terrible 13-16th place finishes every race it was just sad. Honda right now feels like they've so thoroughly lost their way they're throwing stuff at the wall to see what sticks. I genuinely want them to improve because the championship is better when honda is competitive.

You'd hope so, I mean they are the worst team out there so the only way is up. But Zarco did say that they tested a new bike and it was no better, if not worse recently.

Even if they suddenly put a Ducati out there, the best rider they have is Zarco. We probably won’t see it higher than 10th.

Honda will shortly be hiring Pedro Acosta (possibly paying out his KTM contract) and that will change the picture.
