about "hayley."
“hayley” is a song that came together quite quickly from a lyrical standpoint. to me, it’s about dealing with someone moving on and figuring out how to cope with it. in my previous songs i have written a lot about being the one trying to move on, however being on the opposite side can also be just as hard. in that sense, it’s really about learning to let go of something that you thought was going to be there forever. i think it’s a positive lesson to learn, because at the end of the day, we don’t have much control over the things around us.
originally the song was written and finished but that changed when Elijah sent through his verse. we spoke on Instagram about the song and after he heard it he sent back a verse in like 40 minutes. i was like “woah, that is the fastest i have ever received a verse on a song from someone”… he got the vibe straight away and i was freaking out when i heard what he wrote. it’s really cool to hear the perspective he brought to the song and that’s why this is one of my favourite songs i have been apart of, at the moment.

It's 1am rn, and no ones gonna read this, so what the hell. My relationship with a girl named haley ended months ago, but I cant get her out of my head. I thought I was finally over her but then tonight I thought of her laugh and I was back laying next to her. Funny how the mind works. Anyways, this song is helping me grieve that relationship. So thank you both, will and elijah. Keep making music, keep killing it!
