if the buff to levels didnt exist, it would've been a lot better because you would still be able to do good with a slight level diff. Now, it's kinda required to be level 11 since the gap between level stats is bigger and new players are gonna struggle.

I agree with a lot of it as an f2p player im super disappointed I could fathom having p10s against p11s in PL but with the 10% diff between levels it's gonna hit a lot harder I also dont understand why they made it so you cant buy hypercharge with 5k coins for two weeks ... seems unfair cuz I'll just get rolled by people with hypercharge till then It doesn't seem to add technicality to the game and choosing a non hypercharge brawler seems like it'll always be weaker than any other brawler I'm also a little sad about how they moved one gear slot down to p8 as it took me so long to grind brawlers to 10 to get that same gear slot but I get that it's for new players and I'm happy for them Good things out of the update for me personally is just the increase in starr drops think that might help boost progression not sure by how much it still is probably luck reliant but yeah

Completely agree with all ur points OG, talking as a mid level player who is trying to get better at the game every day I'm very disappointed with this update. Honestly why adding another mechanic to the game which is also not skill required at all instead of working on the things that are already into the game... PL hasn't even been touched to make it better and they made ladder even worse removing some skilled modes while leaving Showdown in the permanent rotation and doing nothing for wintraders... Also PL is gonna be even worse since this new p2w mechanic is going to monopolize the meta in those brawlers which have hypercharge, making it ever more frustrating for those who don't spend money. Last but not least, hypercharge and power levels changes are such bad things to change especially with LCQ and Worlds being so close.

Such a great streak of good updates, this was bound to happen sooner or later and will probably see a massive drop down in the playerbase especially in the higher leagues, no changes to Pl or the mm clearing in ladder for free trophies. This is IMO a cash grab, because they changed the difference in lvl stats (Like why if not for money purposes), 300 gems for an ability that is a must have, massive reduction of the battle pass rewards and cl for useless rare star drops, also this was followed by them going to be putting back EXCLUSIVE skins for extra cash. I really hope this doesn’t ruin the game, but I’m with you in the fact that I’m afraid what this update will do to the game we love.

I think the dumbest thing about hypercharge is the massive buffs on speed and damage, it ok if it makes the super different, but the buffs are RIDICOLOUS. And yes, heist and bounty removed its just stupid, to be kind.

I completely agree with all you said og. I don't understand why hypercharge doesn't work this way: it starts charging after your super is charged and if you wait for it to fully charge, then your super has an extra trait (and/or stat buffs). This way you don't just wait for it to charge then spam it, you actually have to decide whether or not it is worth to hypercharge your super or use your normal one and cycle it.

Hey OG, i completely agree with everything you are saying.. I spent years playing clash Royale at a high level and have finally quit the game because of the p2w updates, with evolutions and level 15 to compete at the top level.. It’s very disappointing and frustrating as a F2P player who just wants to play competitively and enjoy the game.. and now to cross back over to another game I love brawl stars, to play something fresh and maybe try get competitive and within 2 months of playing again to be hit with yet again P2W updates and features that ruin skill based game play… very disappointing.. as a long time gamer myself as I am 30 now, it’s just sad to have seen how times are changing so drastically and the greed for money is ruining soo many games I once loved….

100% agree with your stance. It looks like a move from CR with lvl 15 and evolutions but more subtle. Hypercharge just boost your stats like taking a rage potion. Its like a shock and awe and later they will nerf it.I assume they did this to boost their revenue. Even for a long term player with 50k gold I can only get 5 out of 6 and will be left broke.

I've been playing since beta, I saw the update video and all I could think about is my F2P friend who already complains about power level differences now playing with another 10%, 20% stat difference between him and the enemy player. Yikes. Hypercharge could be cool if it was a 2nd super or something, but giving a brawler the equivalent of an energy drink does not seem that competitive. I already didn't really like energy drink as a modifier in the in-game challenges, and that's with all brawlers P11. Maybe if they gave every brawler a placeholder hypercharge ability that just increased stats temporarily while they worked on releasing unique hypercharge abilities for the next couple years, that could be acceptable, but this is just CR card evolutions but now in a game that I actually care about. 5000 coins per brawler for what's going to be a necessary upgrade is a pretty massive amount, and they haven't even released mythic gears for every brawler yet either which is another 2000 coins per brawler. Grinding masteries on brawlers to get those coin bonuses is gonna be extremely cringe if the enemy team has hypercharge and you don't. The skins are cool and the new brawlers are cool and I'll probably keep playing even if the game dies, but this was pretty sad to see. Hopefully BS dev team does good with this, but idk. Gem grab was my favorite gamemode and now it's getting the bounty treatment :(

You are totally right about this update. They nerfed the amount of progression, especially for F2P players last update and having to nerf it to compensate for the addition of Starr drops, and now they are basically adding another level into the game. As a F2P player, seeing a feature that is available for tons of gems and almost 10,000 gold is absurd. This is exactly what clash royale did with evolutions, making it so that players that spend money on the game will get the broken abilities or evolution faster than those who don’t spend money. On top of that, I was dreading before this update, whether hypercharge would be a no-skill ability that dramatically increases the stats or adds a extremely game breaking ability to the brawler, and I was extremely disappointed when I finally saw it in the brawl talk. They managed to make a comeback after the terrible gears update, but it looks like we are currently in the same state again… at least for F2P players. Do better supercell.

The good: Chuck looks really cool. I actually dont mind the 10% level upgrage change. Yes it makes ftp harder but if they want to encourage spending I am alright with this. It makes upgrading brawlers a little easier to understand. The bad: hypercharge looks broken and not fun. Who wants the new button in the game to be a temporary stat boost. Why limit the number of modes we can play? Gem grab is a core mode and should be permanent. I dont even see how this solves mm. The issue with mm is not time into a match but shitty randoms. The skins look garbage this update. Supercell always seems to improve on its skins but this isnt it. Where are the skins for gus, grom, eve, etc who have zero good skins?

Even now it must be pretty overwhelming as a new player to see how far they have to power up their brawlers with levels, sps, gadgets, and gears to even contend with the p2ps. Not to mention the occasional balance change on a gadget or sp that puts f2ps in a tough spot if they have the opposite gadget or sp.

Hi OG I don't really know what to say about this update. I feel like it's bad for ladder players, it's bad for comp players, and it's even worse for f2p players. This update is just plain bad in all prospects tbh. Also, I felt your genuine concerns for the game in your voice and the way your eyes seemed watery. I understand they need revenue, but at the same time they make it harder and harder for new players to keep up the pace of upgrades and less and less enjoyable to play the game for old players. If they want to make levelling up more impact-full there is an easy fix, in early levels you should get more stats this is because there easy to get like reallly easy and it’s very exciting because it’s a noticeable change, and since they already spread out gadgets gears etc, on later levels instead of stats you would get new mechanic. Boom done low levels gets stats, high levels get mechanics

i agree with the points you made here. i have most of my brawlers at power 9 and hold my own fine against power 11s currently but i doubt that will be the case after this update. that being said, if they stick by this mechanic i believe that once they've rolled them out for most brawlers they'll do a good job balancing everything for maxed out competitive players. i worry about the meta until then

I love the idea of Hypercharge but 5000 coins to unlock for ever brawler? That has to be at least 33% more coins to fully upgrade each brawler. It will probably take several more years now for a F2P to max out their accounts. bad update, made the game more p2w, added a button which gives you CREATIVE mode for 5 seconds and only for 6 brawlers including the new broken who is going to be busted. They really just took on the clash royale route with evos and this is looking terrible. expect a stale meta. also just a sidenote i recently made a spreadsheet for all brawlers and damages and now im going to have to redo it because of this levelling up change, its so pointless, just a cashgrab.

The new power scaling will take some time to get used to and kinda dumb right before worlds. And nothing new for power league. Kinda a disappointing update again. I also just fully agree with your criticisms and worry a lot about hypercharge and it’s future regarding skill based gameplay. Feels like if they took community ideas of things to work on there’d be hundreds of ideas better than hypercharge. I feel like I alone come up with decent ideas ideas once every few weeks that would make the game better without making it P2W or game breaking. A lot of quality of life improvements would be preferred before something like this

Hi, What a terrible Brawl Talk ! So basically, they previously nerfed rewards in Brawl Pass, club league and power League. Star drops dont compensate. They changed MM time for showdown and make visible names - welcome wintrading and massive teaming. They previously buffed Shelly - she was one of the best brawler in the game. She is still, After nerf, really strong. Now, they release p2w hypercharge on only 6 brawlers (wtf), including Shelly (what about learning about mistakes ?). Gold is really hard to get. Not a good decision. They will remove Hot Zone, Bounty and Heist. So here is my point. They may have do it in different ways - first showndown problem (teaming/wintrading and now in payload too), second power League rework, third club League and maybe after hypercharge. After fixing problems. So basically, atm, they loose my Brawl Pass. I will not buy it for next season. And maybe i will quit this game. Nice moove Supercell, you rock. PS : Sorry for very bad comment on the game. Still congrats for your creator code. And we love your vids. Keep up the good work OG !

Would massively increasing the cost of hypercharge to something like 20000-25000(maybe extreme) coins alleviate the problems(if the update turns out problematic that is)? Oh, and obviously a nerf to the stat increase.

The thing about leveling up is bad coz imma a free to play and my Grom is a power9 at 650 trophies and I only play duos on cavern churn so extra ability will ruin our experience

Honestly I don’t feel like hypercharge will ruin or “kill” brawl stars. Here’s why: Supercell will be providing 2x Starr drops events, which is super beneficial for f2p players and therefore max out a brawler. Also hypercharge isn’t that pay to win tbh. You can buy it for 5k coins which imo is suppper worth it especially hypercharge being applied to only 6 or so brawlers as of right now. The only problem is that it is going to be a very boring meda since all the brawlers that have hypercharge will probably be hella op.
