Emma, honestly “sustainability” is a new buzzword in fashion. For sure secondhand clothing is more “sustainable” compared to new clothing, but it becomes engraved in our heads that it’s okay to keep buying as long as it’s secondhand. However it’s an endless cycle. Buying so-called second-hand fashion is not necessarily bad, but it does serve an excuse to produce more of it. Buying more doesn’t reduce your carbon footprint whether it’s secondhand or not.

I love bags and designer items too, they make me tiny bit happier because they feel more special and precious. But at some point it becomes absurd. Why would you buy a tiny tiny bag worth 14K, when a) its not practical, b) you already own not one, but two, which are better, and c) you can buy 10 amazing designer bags for that amount. At this level of cost, these items aren't special treasures anymore, they are a symbol of "look how much money I have". I never usually comment negative things, but this really confused me.

@evry1loveronica5 жыл бұрын
Sarah Martinez The very first time I used their service I consigned 11 items with them. Back then Realreal didn’t have physical store in my area yet. They sent a lady to pick up the items, she arrived at my apt one hour early, I was still sleeping, when I told her the appointment wasn’t until an hour later, she seemed impatient and upset, after she confirmed it was their mistake messing up the appointment time, she left and came back after 20 mins. One of the item I consigned was a Chanel caviar black small bag, it was barely used and appeared absolutely brand new. Back then the price was around $4500, they listed the price at $2100 online without any heads up (before I consigned they said they would let me know their listing price, if I’m not happy with it they would ship the item back). When I saw my bag online it was already sold. It was too late for me to ask my bag back. I could’ve easily sold the bag at a much higher price at any place. That was about 4 or 5 years ago. I never used their service until couple months ago. When I heard they opened a store in Georgetownwhen I called their physical store to ask about the consign procedure, the staff basically told me to do my own research online before coming to store and consign. Like bro, I called because I need quick information so I can save time while doing my job. we all got jobs, do yours. The second time interaction with them just reminded me how their company’s mission is never to serve convenience to or respect others but just to add profit to themselves. First time I consigned cuz I had to, I was fresh graduate and unemployed, now I’m grown and stable, will never support a business that ripped off and took advantage of others!

I’m so mad seeing so many hate comments below this video that I decide to post my first comment on KZbin. I absolutely love Valeria and think there is nothing wrong that she is buying a luxury bag that lots of others can’t afford. It’s her money. She earned it. So she has the every right to decide how she spends it. I do understand there are still lots of people on this planet who don’t have enough food or shelter. But those are two completely unrelated matters. People are Ethically Kidnapping Valeria by forcing her to donate her money. She is not the guilty person to blame for so many other sad things in this world! As of the environmental friendly issue, I’m aware that Hermès breeds its own animals and takes the skin in a humane way. If people think killing animals is a Hugh environmental problem, then they should stop eating all meat themselves and also tell all tigers to stop hurting lambs or deers. We are at the top of the predatory pyramid, meaning we have the right to consume other animals and their accessories. You can have the most compassionate heart, but stop telling others what to do! All the best to Valeria. Love you so much and your family too.

I used to watch all your videos because I found you interesting and funny and I would learn good life hacks . However recently I have been feeling uneasy with them. There's a lot of time where I found the content pretty shallow with big words such as empowerment or sustainability being completely distorted. Being empowered as a woman does not mean taking glamorous selfie and going clothes shopping. Sustainability is not about drinking out of reusable straws but then selling matcha powder in individual dosage packaging or flying 3 times in a month. You can't be that busy when you have 2 nannies and a team of staff. I think I started to feel uneasy watching the trip to Mexico video when I saw your 2 nannies doing the heavy lifting and feeding Max while your walk ahead with your mother. Is the moral of this channel : turn everything into cash . Is that the values you are trying to get through to your audience ? Because obviously your values are not so clear to your audience anymore.
@cavalheirosa5 жыл бұрын
Being empowered as a woman means feeling comfortable in your own body, loving yourself and also enjoying what you see in the mirror. And that can mean taking a glamorous selfie, wearing something that makes you feel like a superwoman or taking time for yourself. besides, on what grounds can't she be that busy? Have you ever seen a vlog with her kids and nannies? they all seem pretty happy and grateful. She not only buys stuff but gives a lot as well. She's not any less of a mother because she doesn't feed or clean Max at all times, she's delegating activities in order to live her life as well, she's more than a mother, a boss, a content creator, a daughter, a wife and herself, she's all of that at once. I hope people don't judge you the way you're judging her because it's really unjustified and unreasonable.
@cacahuata7425 жыл бұрын
Yeah, she could've been making more relevant and relatable content on being a mom, which she has none of AND she has another newborn, but seeing how many vlogs there are of mother's actually care about their children and spend day and night with them (no nanny), really shows her true colors. She's too caught up believing she's a 'celebrity' rather than a mom or 'influencer'. It's bad. Respect to all the mom's that keep so updated with their babies care.

In a way, it makes sense. you always see this behaviour of crazy shopaholic syndrome on fashionistas. When you see Tech lover for example, they can keep updated and stuff, but they dont always use THE BEST tech on them. You dont have to own THE BEST stuff of everything, just like you dont have to be with the BEST person in the world, live in the BEST house in the world. Yet this logic never realy apply to Fashionistas. They rather sell their soul literally

I followed her two years ago and I loved her, but her channel is getting boring and disappointing recently, so material and pointless. Btw, most of her luxury bags were gifted from her husband, I’m not sure if she could afford any one of her Hermès by herself 😂this made me sad because I started to confuse whether I was wrong to try to get strong by myself instead of marrying a rich guy...

Girl good for you for getting the bag. People on this comment section who cannot fathom spending so much money need to see the spending habits of really wealthy people. Also, just because someone is spending X amount to buy themselves something, doesn't mean they also don't do other good things for the world. When was the last time you donated and did something for someone? Just you having a computer or a phone to write your comment means you are way better off than millions if not billions of people in this world. For those who acted so entitled, please don't sit around and wait for the world to change, be the change. Go and donate money to a charity website now. Rant over.

The bag is cute. Dont be mad at Valeria, be mad at Hermes for selling bags for such ridiculously exaggerated prices. Also dont forget that Valeria regulary donates to charity. And to move on...i wonder how is, that this shop has a vault full of kellys bags while, when you want to purchase a bag at hermes shop, its nearly impossible.

Guys, when H&M calls it sustainable by recycling the old clothes, buying from The Real Real should also be called sustainable. The only difference is donating then get 15% to buy more, or buying the same thing again. If you are offended by designer goods, then don’t watch these type of video.

@hollyfitzgerald28735 жыл бұрын
A lot of commenters seem to be forgetting that this is her hard earned money not theirs. It doesn't really matter if the money could pay off your student tuition because she is not you. She's treating herself in proportion to what she earns, just as I'm sure you treat yourself in proportion to what you earn. The title is clearly playful - she's not sending her family spiralling into debt over a purse. If you watch Valeria's content often you'll know how incredibly hard working she is. She has earned the luxury of affording high end purchases and it's not in any way shape or form immoral for her to enjoy her success and indulge herself.

WHAT????? 15K for a purse, that's a down payment on a home, car, year worth of groceries, travel fair to see beautiful states and countries. WOW!
@brooke70635 жыл бұрын
@@Raheelwahl its said to be an investment because the value (price) of the bag will only go up over time..not down. So its an investment that could being a return later on even after using it depending on the condition its in afterward.
@rasa59705 жыл бұрын
@@Raheelwahl I do not thin she is buying for investment as she is using it. I know value goes for these things but it depends how in future fashion will be. As it depends how fashion will go, as maybe no one will bags in future. However for me its just price, but again I am not fashion person. I just see myself buying holiday home, investing, maybe even giving to charity or giving amazing life for 15 Indian people. I am just thinking if I would be rich if there is anything from fashion what I would spend more than 1k.. I think my max for clothes , boots or anything is 300 and I feel bad spending that (apart that most of the time is a quality product). I would have huge anxiety wearing 15k outside..But funny thing is it does not look expensive.. If I see that on street I am guarantee I would think its like max 200 pounds worth :D however I do not know what would happen if I would be super rich...
