I bought Boss Metal Core when it first hit the market back in about 2009/2010 and have had it ever since. I loved the sound right off the bat. When playing Rock my OD is the one that i mainly use for the whole song, when soloing imma turn on the Distortion for that spice. When playing Metal my Dist is the one that i mainly use for the whole song, but when imma go crazy iim gonna turn my OD for that Chef Kiss. Do it and experiment with it man. @jan7751-o4w2 жыл бұрын
Forgot about noise gate, because it's always on. The integrated noise gate on the CHUG pedal has almost made me buy it. If only the CHUG pedal also had a tuner - then it would really have everything a groving (sideways) metalhead needs. Perhaps in version 2.0. Or am I allowed to dream about a Solar Amp with integrated tuner and noise gate.

I have been trying to remember a pedal that a student of mine brought in for me to try years ago. I plugged it into a peavey bandit 112 and it blew my mind. I have never been a pedal user. I have owned some in the early days of when I was starting out, but rarely in my later years as i fell in love with the Soldano amp model in the Line 6 Flextone II and XL. I have 3 of those now and have been using them since 2000. But, that one distortion pedal I've been trying to remember may have been the metal core, but I think maybe it was a DOD pedal. Anyway, I'll never know unless I am able to get my hands on several different distortion pedals (all I remember is it was a black chassis) and able to plug into a peavey bandit 112 to know for sure. It will always be a mystery I guess!

I just bought the meta muff. Would you say it’s better in the FX loop or straight through the front
@jacksmith44604 жыл бұрын
@@tyrp7309 Short answer FX return if tube, if Transistor Clean channel front end Long answer: Not sure how you have been getting on with the Metal Muff, but I find its best into a really flat amp be it solid state or tube, you want to run it through an "open" amp or straight into fx return. When I say open I mean not adding too much character or colour. I think both this and the Metal Zone were designed for use with cheap solid state amps that could quite do the most extreme metal sounds that well. Most solid state amps at the time had a competent clean. I think these days solid state amps have far more tube style character, which colours the tone, so when you put a Metal Muff or Metal Zone into them it can be quite hard to get the right balance. You can still get killer tones into most amps if you are ok with dialling stuff carefully. But even a little amp gain can (not always) just ruin it. For instance I found it really had to get a good tone in my Jet city clean, its the only pedal it does not like, literally tried over 50 in it. The Jet is a Tube amp, it is amazing with every other drive I have tried, just not the Metal muff. Pre amp changes the tone too much to work But at home into my cheap flat as hell budget solid state clean channel, its fucking immense. Its not so much the quality of the amp as the type of amp. So what usually is a bad fit for guitar (i.e. flat response, uber clean hi fi style pre amp) I think is easy to use with Metal Muffs and Metal Zones, if you have Tube amp , go into fx return, unless its a HI Watt or something similar or a fender twin style amp

@plumbummusic20515 жыл бұрын
Just tested one yesterday with a TS-9 boosting it. With all the gain down and no boost, it can sound like a lot of vintage rock/metal distortions of the classic marshalls, with the boost you get a tight modern sound and can crank the gain up until 12 o'clock for some heavy crunch and chug. I'd recommend setting the treble dial fairly low, given the boost will add a lot of bite and the pedal still sounds kickass by itself

"Its actually not that noisy". Its well behaved on the hum and hiss department. Its a metal pedal you will get saturation even at the lowest gain. I crank it straight into the clean channel of an old Marshall valvestate. I use the amp mids to give it more cut. For solos i boost it with an od3 and it sustains forever.
