To all the people concerned about the noise: it doesn't have that noise, Ola just put it against the ksr transformer, that's why it's humming like crazy. I have both this one and the chug pedal, they're for two different applications. One for classic high gain the other for modern stuff but it can give you classic high gain tones as well if you don't cut all the bass gain

Just got one of these and it rips. Definitely had the Soldano vibe. If you need more chug than what it does stock just boost it. Voicing-wise I really prefer the SLO pedal to the Friedman BE-OD.

Sounds excellent, but a noise gate wouldn't hurt. Perhaps the pedal was too close to the power amp and maybe that accounts for the ground noise.

My band bought both the Chug and Soldano Slo. I will be using the Slo because I also have another band that is more of heavy grunge. And also we are thinking frequency and tone difference if our lead using the Chug and I'm using the Soldano Slo. Thanks for the Vid Ola!

I believe this pedal is intended to go into the front of a clean channel of an amp rather than used as a preamp as depicted in this demo. That not to say it sounds bad here, but judging from my experience it definitely sounds best when placed in front as the pedal's EQ interacts best with a clean channel with a fair amount of sparkle/brightness. Just my 2 cents.

I had one for s good while, and agree it's an absolutely sick af sounding pedal that cuts like mad even with maxed out gain. It might be my favorite high gain distortion pedal ever. Running it after the dry out on my KGB Fuzz with the fuzz going to a Hiwatt DR103 and the SLO Pedal going to my Reeves DR504 was the heaviest tone I ever played through.

Can you make a bugera AC60 chug? with a Noise gate and Biyang metal end king, or boss metal zone in fx loop, try the stock speaker and a jensen speaker, and a standard A#1 tuned 8 string, with aftermath bare knuckle pickup? I got this as a gift to spice up a Blackstar HT1 combo my brother and I leave at our dads in FL to jam when we visit. Its ok to add some leads on top of a clean loop but I wouldnt count on it as my main tone vs a 6505mh or the Sparks tonal palet which i both own currently.

He doesn't have a vid on it but he uses it live as shown in a couple videos. I had one when it was first released and it's awesome. Ended up selling it to get a KSR Ares but it worked great with modelers and preamp pedals

As a massive fan of the SLO-100 (the amp head and the Neural DSP VST), I was interested in this pedal. It sounds great but I feel like it's not much different than many other high gain distortion pedals. But, yes, it undisputedly chugs 🤘

Can we also hope to have a good sound from a "metal zone" pedal on a clean channel doing this? And what correspond exactly the "presence"?

Not Ola, but presence is the fullness of sound. Think single-coils versus double-coils, or think of how big of a sound an 8" speaker generates versus how big of a sound a 12" speaker makes at the same volume and power. Presence is there to compensate for weak guitars that don't naturally have any (like a lot of Fenders with notoriously thin sounds). Aso the Metal Zone pedal is a very dry-sounding pedal, and it's tough to get any warmth out of it nevertheless any presence.

From my knowledge from one of the local pedal builder. Bcs it's a preamp pedal not a distortion pedal. It has different amount of eq applied before hitting the amp. Bcs clean channel already has a voicing or preamp That's why some pedal sounds good on clean channel and some sounds harsh or too bright

Sounds more like a distortion than an OD to me, sounds good although kind of noisy. I know you can chain pedals, etc. I always worry about having to go max stuff out to make it sound good off the bat though, could lack some versatility.

That "Overdrive" thing is part of the name of the original high-gain amplifier, confusingly (SLO 100 = Super Lead Overdrive 100). And even more confusingly, this one here is supposed to be a preamp, not a distortion pedal (though the lines between the two are oftentimes blurry).

Good pedal but not mind blowing. I'd still choose the CHUG pedal over this one for that soul cleansing chug tone. I'd make a car horn with chugging sounds. That would be awesome. Imagine a deluxe version of said horn being able to play "you suffer" by Napalm Death.
