I recently came across a 1957 Chevrolet 210 model station wagon on Facebook Marketplace. It was last on the road in 1970 so let's see if we can get it cleaned up and running for the first time in 54 years! This car has been SOLD! As always, thanks for watching!

I owned one, same color, but BelAir. By the time I got it in the mid-90s, it had been through several owners and drivetrains. Everybody in town either knew of the car, or partied in it at one time or another. I knew it had a 327/4spd in it before I bought it because I knew the previous owner, he was my best friend. He passed of cancer at 25. His wife sold the car and I found it for sale with no engine/trans. I put a 283/Powerglide in it. My best bud and I were cruising in it one day, and the brake pedal went all the way to floor, heard a snap on the RF wheel. The pin that holds the top two brake shoe springs snapped off, this pin also holds the wheel cylinder, so in conjunction with the single reservoir master cylinder, we wound up running a stop sign at 40mph, and literally put her on two wheels making the hardest right turn I've ever ridden in. I replaced the MS with a dual from a 70s Camaro, along with its proportioning valve and new brake lines for the fronts. Highly recommend this mod if you plan on keeping her.

What a shame !! However , You did bring it around and make it into a very pretty piece of classic 1957 Chevrolet . You have a way with words as well as the tools to make this station wagon look like a diamond in a coal mine . Some times you have to go round the Sun to meet the Moon but its the outcome that's important , and you were very successful . Thank you for the work you do to bring these videos to us . Totally agree with washing the crud off before working on a new project, especially the engine/bay, knock all the webs off and run off the critters and their stinky nests. But these guys who completely detail a car that's been in a barn 30+ years and they haven't even checked to see if it turns over, that's just bad luck.

ive been in the trade since 84. We had a car come with a seized motor no oil. We replaced the motor and got it running and found the gearbox was seized too. No you are not a hack mechanic Dr Mortske. You are an automotive surgeon of the first order. Do what most of us mechanics do . Have a sandwich or 3. The shakes stop after the first 6 sandwiches. You're giving up! Its only a couple of rusty pushrods LOL I knew it was going to be bad when you had to cut the distributor off. Love your channel.

Those 57s are very simple cars to work on unless you are a whiner. I had 3 different ones back in the mid 60s when I was in high school. Had to put an engine in one of them. You might fall in love with it. It was easy to find parts for them back then. The 57s were the first year of the 283 so unless it was built in late 56 yours should be a 283.

If the 57 Chevy's came with a 283 it would have had a gold "V" on the hood and tailgate, otherwise it would be a 265. 283 was stock engine in 58.

Love the videos, and am glad you are not doing the 50 and 60 thousand dollar stuff that most of us cannot afford. Back in 1965 I think it was, my grandfather traded his 54 Chevy BelAir 2door and a shotgun and 25 bucks for a 1957 Chevy wagon with only 29 thousand miles on it. Six cylinder and standard trans and it had a radio and two rear view mirrors, and several options. He kept that car until he passed away in 1982 at the age of 92 years old. The wagon was still going strong when I sold it to an old codger that I knew would take care of it. Thanks again for the videos. They are entertaining while we can learn some things. Thank you.

that a pretty nice wagon, i bought my 57 210 wagon about a year ago with no engine or trans. on 57 the center bumper bar is wagon only. you can use a car bumper it will fit it just don't have the flat spot where the tags go at . i put a regular car bumper on mine that i had in stock. my wagon was sitting since 1972. it is running and driving now. i put a 350 & th350 in it and i got the brakes working.

If this KZbin thing doesn’t pan out, you could always do ‘Mortske’s Detail Shop’ with the Comet bucket? 😂😂 But seriously, that color is amazing. Just the right amount of semi flat, and patina. Also, I finally got the support to your channel fixed, so that’ll help too. Be blessed brother.

Sir Thomas demonstrates in almost every video the practically subliminal demonstration of hard work ethic and how it translates to goal achievement. It’s the example of the experienced engineer who does not suffer fools gladly; yet, even with a growl or cheese and rice - perseveres and gets up the next day knowing the rock is in front of his door, then proceeds to push it up the hill - again. Inherently, he’s setting an example for the next generation. You can tell he’s doing the right thing - because God gave him Duff!

Good evening from Cape Cod ⛵ Wow! Surprise surprise when you lifted that intake, I've never seen anything quite that screwed up 😂 I wasn't sure where you were going to go with this car, man I'm quite surprised you dial that up to get rid of it. I agree with you, the more presentable you make a vehicle the more appealing it is. She looks pretty damn good sitting out there in front of the shop. Somebody will definitely buy it. Btw if that small block doesn't have a built in oil filter it is for a 265. In the 80's that had another 4.3 265 in Malibu's and monte carlos that of course has the filter mount cast into the block.
