Good job! With a better carburetor she'll make a nice daily rider. A 26mm Mikuni round-slide carb (or any modern carb) will dramatically improve its performance, starting and rideability. Always wanted one of those! I've got 3 Ducati narrow-case singles (a 350 and two 250s) on which I've put many happy miles. The Riverside has some of the same parts as the Ducati singles.

thank you for your support. Yes a modern carby will help. Someone else suggested a PHBH30, I was also considering Amal. Once the project gets further, will review and get back to this again.

Good work there mate! In the future you might want to consider a modern Dell Orto carb such as a PHBH30 to compliment the electronic ignition. John in Oz.

Thanks for the attention to details here. This won't be a full restoration, and I am trying to keep the cost down. I did see that carb in my research, but getting the original was cheaper. My goal will be to refresh the bike and make it mechanically sound, hoping not to have to rebuild the engine as well. But in case plans changed, that will be my go to carby. :)

I owned a 1968 red 350 MWRS back in the day. Biggest piece of crap I ever owned. Something broke on each new ride. Warning, there is quite a lot of wires inside the head light. They will fray over time, and touch, then the hole wiring system in the head light will fry it's self. Shifting forks bend very easy., and will lock into gear. Mine locked into 2nd. Sorry, but you will not be able to keep it on the road for any length of time. Good luck though, you will need it.

Thanks for your support. Good point about he wiring. In my case I will have to make a wiring harness myself and wit ha 12V system, the circuits will change a lot, and probably will not be using the same switches (will make it simpler), so hopefully these will get mitigated to some extent, fingers crossed. The transmission issues seem to be a problem in general with bikes from that era, I was hoping not to have to redo the engine and just freshen up the bike and complete it before moving on to the next project, but lets see.

@@topdeadcentre Good luck, it was a neat and beautiful bike. To bad Benelli put out such a poor product.
