I pulled this old beauty out of storage. I don't know how long it has been sitting. I hope it won't take much to get it running again. Will it start?

Just got my '80 xl250 going, been off the road for three years due to my countershaft seal. Dont try to press a new one in. Ever! I learned the hard way that you must split the case to install it. Gave her a valve job and runs solid now! No leaks! Great video!

Sweet. The engine purrs like a kitten for its age. Especially when you have the oil changed. Congrats.

Hi, I really enjoyed your video! I was just thinking about the motorcycles I used to have when I was younger and wasn't sure about the year so decided to look them up. My first bike was a 1973 Dt Yamaha and my second apparently was a 1979 XL 250 Honda that I took my road test on, and it looked like this one except I thought it sat up much higher than that. 😅 but of course I'm only 5 ft 3 so maybe that was the problem. 😉 They were a really nice bike but I sold it because it was to tall for me. I dumped mine as well from leaving a hard top road to a back road on a sharp curve not knowing they were doing road work and left a big rock on the road at the entrance. Fortunately it didn't do anything to my new bike just my left knee. I'm glad that you were able to find this one and fix it up. Enjoy your day!

Wouldn't take much to do a bit of a restoration on that bike and have something special.

That's exactly what I was thinking.

@@JohnBullOutdoors I had a 80 XR200 with the 23" front wheel. It was the first bike I bought on my own brand new. Those Honda 4 stroke dirt bikes from the late 70's-early 80's were a blast.

70% back brake and 30% front max! However don't brake with the front on loose ground especially on cornering it's a NO GO!!!!!!!!

Did you change oil? Did you clean oil mesh filter? What about centrifugal filter?

A friend bought one of these big front wheeled wonders, because he was a Honda nut. To say it was slow and heavy and ill handling, would be a huge compliment. How Honda can pack so much lard onto what could be a simple decent bike I have no idea. Those who like Hondas, REALLY like Hondas. No matter how heavy or slow.
