I have no interest in the boat but as a mechanic for 40+ years I have to tell you how amazed I am by your videos. Your knowledge and understanding of every system is truly impressive. What really blows my mind is your willingness to do what it takes to accomplish these tasks under the worst of conditions. Your troubleshooting techniques always follow the most useful and logical order, eliminating the need to throw unnecessary parts at it. I would be interested in knowing where you received your formal education. Your common sense approach is far from common. I like Jen and Gus as crucial members of your team, she is a keeper 👍. Thanks for the tips and entertainment.

That's a blast from the past!! I used to be an Ultranautics dealer in San Diego in the 80's and 90's. Ultranautics Corp manufactured the WetBike and SeaFlash, as well as the Jetstar. That Jetstar is a cool find. They are a riot to drive! It has a 60 hp Suzuki powerhead from the 80's. (Same powerhead that is used in their 50 and 60 hp outboards. Parts for the carbs and engine are readily available online and at Suzuki dealers. It uses the same jet pump assembly as the Wetbike and SeaFlash. The engines and jet drives are really bulletproof! I hope you fix it up and have fun with it!

Great channel love all your guys content…. FYI With cleaning carburetors and stuff plugged up a old timer in our rc flying club showed me a great tool to use. Seams to easy but work’s amazing on multiple things is to take a old crock pot and fill it with straight antifreeze (green kind) and turn it on and let it soak overnight and all your parts come out looking brand new and super clean and it doesn’t hurt and of your parts ….. we use it a lot to free up old rc plane engines and carburetors that’s seized up. Hopefully this trick helps make your jobs easier

Hi mate sorry comment not about your boat as I've just found your channel. I'm from the UK and I'm now retired, I was a diesel mechanic one way we used to start diesel engines in the cold or if out of service for years was a rag soaked in oil held in the air intake lol. Also a British engine maker called Gardiner not only would they run away they have been known to run away backwards and run on oil out of the pan and difficult to stop before they went BANG. Just found your channel. Great content! I’m finishing a full restoration of a 1969 StarCraft that was in my family since new and sat for 27 years. I gutted it to bones last year and rebuilt all the floors and furniture. Last weekend I rebuilt steering and new controls. Reinforced steel plated transom and mounted a nice 20hp Johnson I got for 359.00 from a marina trade in. All that’s left is a fuel pump that’s not getting gas through. So your video got me gassed up to head over and finish it up tomorrow and finally get it on the water. Haven’t ridden in it since I was 8. I’m 47 now. Lol. But the boat now has a new life instead of becoming scrap. And I’m only into it for about 600.00. But glad I found your channel. Right up my alley of content. ✌🏻✌🏻✌🏻

Great video! A time ago, I went for a long trail snowmobile ride. One cylinder stopped firing. My friend could have towed me home, but it was moving on one cylinder. So I rode it home. When I got home and checked it out, the fuel line was cracked. So the one cylinder wasn't getting fuel/oil, hence running home dry. It melted the piston to the point a piece of ring bent out and scared the cylinder wall. I had to buy a new jug, piston, gaskets... Long story short, If a two stroke loses a cylinder, first check it out better on the spot, as I could have fix it there, if not I'll shut it down and tow it home!

New sub here! Someone may have mentioned, but use Purple Power or Mean Green in the ultrasonic cleaner. It works great and is not as corrosive as the parts cleaner. Also, turn the heat (TC) function on 10min or so before you soak anything to warm up the solution. Side note: the heater DOES NOT shut off when the timer ends, so make sure to turn it off or unplug. Great video by the way!

I had a jet boat back in the day. It was 19.5 foot Nordic that was powered by a 427 Chevrolet with a Berkley Jet drive. It had a higher performance thrust nozzle added that was called a Droop Snoot which very few Berkley drives had been fitted with and it had really been modified pretty substantially before I got it. The water cooled exhaust system had been removed and it was running dry headers because it had been set up for drag boat racing. To say it was loud would be a rather extreme understatement. The headers would glow red if you ran the engine for more than a couple of minutes or so, and the headers would be hot enough to light a cigarette easily. Drag boat racing was popular in my area back then and the prior owner had built it up pretty well for that. I picked it up for a good price and ran the crap out of it on the upper rivers of the Chesapeake for two summers. I never raced it anywhere that it’s speed could be accurately measured, but it was very fast. After the impeller grabbed enough water to get her going, it would launch impressively by accelerating very quickly as if it had been shot off a carrier’s steam catapult. It was a literal blast!

Good video. Nice little boat find. Can’t believe I saw the famous ‘Trenton Makes the World Takes.’ I lived about 13 miles south of Trenton and know the area well. BTW been a jeweler for 20+ years and very familiar with ultrasonic cleaning. You have to use a chemical that will cavitate properly. Simple green is pretty good for garage work and cheap enough. Trick with ultrasonics is the power rating of the transducer. More power! Gus is a star.

Would love to find a small boat like that! Love it! Better still, loved the Monte Carlo views! I had a 1971 Monte Carlo I restored and was a great car; sold it to a friend for his wife & then they sold years later...Saw it at later & asked the owner how it was & they loved it! Your video brought back a lot of great memories...Thanks! -Scott- :-)

Those are basically an outboard power head running into a 90 degree gearbox to spin the pump. I always toss the head gasket right off. Check clearance of course but that get your compression up to par. Run some hot fuel and bore the main jets a bit. All the sudden she will be ripping.

I just saw this, so I know this comment may be late. The adjustment of the winch post was amazing. I am surprised you got it loose! There may be some simpler methods to try, such as moving weight forward in the hull by putting a tool box on the front seat or relocating the battery toward the bow. That bow gas tank may have a significant impact. Imagine if it was full with about 150# of fuel that far forward of the axle, that would be a major impact, Why not fix the tank issues before adjusting the trailer? That is a minor observation. Overall, it is a very positive, uplifting video. If I tried something like that, it would take me at least three months before I would venture onto the water.

I love how you work on stuff because its exactly how I like to do things. Get it running with minimum effort, and use force when getting impatient haha.

I know it's an older video, but let's give it a shot anyways: with ultrasonic cleaner you can use solvents to clean oily parts better. You can do that by filling the cleaner with water as usual and then place a glass beaker or cup into it filled with a non-polar solvent (e.g. gasoline), then place the dirty parts into the beaker and run the cleaning cycle. It's just important to remember not to put flammable liquids directly into the ultrasonic cleaner as that can be a fire hazard. We used ultrasonic cleaners all the time in the lab to clean dirty instrument parts with wide variety of solvents.

The trick to the ultrasonic unit is the vibration and the parts touching the bottom for best results! I have the same unit and love it!
