This has gotta be the most realistic engine start ever, oil leaks, dead battery, etc etc etc. It never fails. 😂😂 Awesome Mike it sounds nice👍

I like how you tell the whole FN story it's real life that's how my initial stars go some smoother than others but it's real you show what to and what not to expect. Your the best! Thanks for sharing your work with us.

Good to know, I didn't know Castrol made a high zinc oil. I have used Castrol in my bugs for years and added a zinc additive. But from now on I'll use Castrol Classic with the zinc already in it. Thanks Buddy.

Nice job. You need to build yourself a engine test stand. Your back and knees will appreciate it.

agreed on your oil opinions on oils. We liked clearer oil brands. Really only because when it was new it was so nice to see clean clear oil in the motor. And then you could kind of watch it over the next few whatever miles get darker and darker. Until it was time to do something about it. But starting off clearer seem to make it easier

I know they leak oil, but that’s ridiculous!! lol… Nice Catch Mike…:)

Been hanging on every video on your 1800 build and really glad you got through all the hassles. Sounds really good with the cam, wish it had a performance exhaust, but you've got another purpose for it. I'm convinced the 1800 will be my next build. Thank you for sharing the good-bad-ugly! Will be happy for you to get it in the truck. Driving video coming?

You can’t manually close the choke to try to keep rpms up😊

Sounds good 🎉 I think you should put the bucket truck back in to service. Changing street lights or doing signs 🪧

I used to use Castrol but they removed the ZDDP until recently.. I do use the Valvoline motorcycle/ATV synthetic with no problems. 10w/40.. I have no wear or seal issues..I run it at 4k rpm at extended periods... Spirited driving in town up to 7k shifts.. I run 7qts with filter.. I love Castrol from my racing days but wish they had something lighter for the cooler climates...

The OEM VW (even Mexico) or the FEBI Bilstein boots are the best. They also tend to break if the axles are hanging down for a long time such as when the car is left jacked up in the back. Wouldn’t it work better with an SVDA distributor with electronic module hooked up to the vacuum line on the carb?

Those were Febi. and they totally are not great anymore. Some guys are saying the new EMPI ones are better. believe it or not. Febi lasted 2 years said right on the boot made in Germany.

20-50 or 15-40 or 30 w. What do you think Mike?
@422228 ай бұрын
I don't like 20w50 in my bug engines it't to thick and the oil takes to long to get to the bearings. Whiped out my new main bearing to the flywheel this way. But it was winter so thats a bad combination. 15w40 is the way to go for all bug engines imho.

Get automatic stick shift starter then you don't need change the support bushing.
@Mikefngarage8 ай бұрын
Yea I did that buttttttt.....they sent it to another store....so I would have had to wait for another few days. SO I went with the conversion bushing. UGGG. expensive too. for a little bushing like that.
