Just a quick reminder to save those knuckles . Be sure and keep the console full of gear oil. If it is a bit low it tends to make it kick alot harder. Good luck. I ran one like it for years.

Be sure to shut off gas line and let the pony run out of gas before shutting off the mag switch. Not sure if you knew but that is the major killer of pony motors gas washed out oil and then drops the pin in the main bearing.
@ironman34063 жыл бұрын
@@Fatamus hey thanks for the note Dan, you are absolutely right and I always do shut the gas off - in the video I just used the mag switch but after all the filming I started the pony again and ran the carb out of gas before leaving it.

New sub here. Your awesome cab delivery vid on Squatch253 is how I became aware of your channel. How you and Diesel Creek Matt are 3 of the old construction equipment channels I watch. Matt has a grader, I can't remember the brand but it's rare he disassembled and restored he name Christine. He recently took it to a steam shovel convention where they were actually operating them and other antique equipment. He just got a 50's era Autocar semi on the road to haul it and other equipment around. He actually makes a living using his old restored equipment on jobs.

You dont need to bleed it past the fuel injection pumps. The fuel pressure gauge should show in the green on the fuel filter. It's a good idea to crack the drain on the fuel injector housing to get rid of moisture. After starting pony, engage starter pinion then once big engine is turning You need to run it on start then put the compression lever to run. Then when warm put on the fuel. Next turn the gasoline off to the pony and let the carburetor run dry.

I would have thought if you were going to see if something was going to start, the first thing you would take was a battery??
@ironman34063 жыл бұрын
Fun fact you don’t actually need to use the electric starter for the starting engine , there is a groove cut in the flywheel where you can wrap a rope to pull start it, thus technically not needing a battery. That is one of the benefits of a starting engine, even without batteries or starters you were able to get them going so long as the starting engine was in good shape. I was not specifically on this trip to start it I was in the area for work so just decided to give it a go while I was close.
