My real father was killed in a Mac exactly the same is that well square body and last I heard it got changed into a dump truck. He was killed in 1974. I was about 18 months old when it happened and it was the old yellow one with the yellow paint that you got in the engine bay, that’s the last of heard about it so it’ll be really nice if you could restore that old truck. Have a nice day in God bless

Can’t get enough of a Mack air start. Does the tipper still work? Shouldn’t you get rid of the dirt and grass out of the back before it rusts through and makes the truck useless.

Not hard to find a replacement R600 cab for an old Mack, but not so easy to fit a cabover cab onto a bonneted version chassis.
@stevesplacedownunder6 ай бұрын
We had huge trouble finding one when we rebuilt one at work. A cabover one would be easy if the diner one came with all the parts because the FR700 were an R chassis, but will probably never happen

Would the air starter have been an option on the truck when new. Just wondering the reason for them.
@EveleighSprag6 ай бұрын
I know one old chap that told me the air start was much better than a starter motor in that if your in the middle of nowhere and you ended up with flat batteries you could always get it going. Now you might say what about if the starter tank bleed off well this chap always carried an air hose with fittings to run off a tyre into the air tank, and presto your off and running, then just pump your tyre back up off the main air tank. Hope that helps. Steve you know who I'm talking about, think about it, his name will come to you.
@stevesplacedownunder6 ай бұрын
Yes mate I know and that is right what you said. Once it’s going you can pump the tyres back up

@@stevesplacedownunder A simple "Will it start?" is the most effective advertising for this kind of video. Showing that it started at the beginning of the video is a spoiler for me, like knowing the end of a movie before watching it. I love the mystery and suspense of waiting to see if some old behemoth, long forgotten and given up as dead roar back to life.

@robinkhalawan3564 I’ve done loads of will it start videos over the last 2 years. I’m trying new methods of getting viewers and subs. This is an idea performed by many KZbin creators. Although I do agree with what you’re saying, this method tends to work better than the other way I was doing it.
