This is our 1964 Ford Galaxie 500 2 door hardtop that we rescued from a local junkyard .The car has been sitting for 30 + years outside in Tennessee . If you watched the last video you saw us winch it out of the weeds and vacuum it out and cleaned up the engine .It has a 390 fe big block , 3 speed automatic transmission, and Ford 9 inch rear axle.

My 64 Galaxy 500 was a convertible beater, it ran on seven cylinders due to a burnt valve, that car couldn’t be killed. The old Ford sounded kind of funky but that 390 took me and my friends all over Northern Californian, it bucket seats with Center counsel and shifter. I had to manually put the top up and down because the hydraulic lines liked to dump all the fluid in the trunk.

My father, born in McMinnville in Warren County, pronounced Vienna sausages, "Vyeeners." I haven't heard that pronunciation since he died in 1978. I loved hearing it again. When I was Ralphie's age I would ride with my father in an 18-wheel truck; he'd sit a can of "Vyeeners," potted meat, and a sleeve of saltines on the truck's dash and when we'd get home and my mother would ask if he'd fed me a hot lunch, he could truthfully say, "yes." Lord, I miss him. You're blessed to have such a fine "swamper." (My father's term for me when I was Ralphie's age.) Oh, I enjoy your videos too...I'm eager to see more of the red '64.

You need some club crackers to go with those Viennas , Bubba . When i rode the Gas Truck with my Grandad and we were out between Clarksville and Avery Texas we stopped for lunch at a old general store in the town of English Texas and we would have a sleeve of crackers and a big can of Viennas with 2 short cokes (8 oz bottles) . Some of the best memories of my life made . the had a display of old timer knives on the counter and i would stair at them while Daddy Zeke was talking to the old men in back by the pot belly stove playing checkers . Then the day came i got a small 2 blade pocket knife of my very own to use to cut Daddy Zekes Cannon plug with , my Granny put that one up somewhere never to be seen again , later in life i asked her about it and she wasn't sure what went with it but she gave me one of my grandads Shrade knifes that was still in the plastic sleeve , it is amonst my most prized possessions along with his Bulava watch he wore face under , and his badge and shoulder insignia and a old ticket book i have in a shadow box above my tall chester drawers , after he retired from the gas co. He became a jailer dispatcher for Clarksville PD in the very early 70s same time my uncle became the Sheriff of Red River County . Great memories !!

One of these was going to be my first car. 1964 Galaxie 500 XL. Bucket seats with the shifter in the console on the floor. Beautiful car. White with a blue interior. Had a factory Ford AC unit that would literally freeze your nads off in the hottest parts of summer! It had the 390 with a big 4V carburetor on it. My Dad wrecked it when a wheel bearing went bad and the wheel came off. Knowing him, he was probably doing a hundred when it happened! I was 14 years old and simply crushed. @@Sleeperdude My mother put over 135,000 miles on that engine and it went through about three clutches (three speed on the column). It had power steering but standard brakes and no air conditioning. The shape of the valve covers reveals that that may be a later '60s 390 ---- the ones for '64s were round on top similar to the Thunderbirds. The 352 was a truck engine before they put them in cars. Those old cab-over box trucks had 352s in them.

I had a 390 that had sat for a long time, after I got it running the valve stem seals were brittle and crumbled up eventually making their way through the screen on the pickup tube and into the oilpump where they locked the pump up and sheared the roll pin in the distributor gear that drives off the camshaft, wasn't an easy fix.

It's an FE, it's not will it run, it's how long will it take us to start it! The secret to longevity is a 400lb intake manifold. Lol

not the original engine. wrong valve covers. a 64 FE has a oil fill tube in the intake manifold. Likely a 65 or 66 352 engine. The 67 has power by ford embossed in the valve covers. 65 and 66 most 390's where a two bbl carb. and the 354 where all 4 bbl.

Don’t know if you ever tried an air chisel on the brake drums? When I was wrenching and doing construction work, always used to free up hydraulic fittings and rusted up stuff all the time. Never did a lot with cars but always on trucks and heavy equipment. Awesome channel and love the videos. Just starting to go backwards now and see others from your channel. Thank you sir

Btw, with my goat comment I wasn't referring to anything derogatory, I was referring to those old videos of goats screaming like humans. Apparently none of y'all ever heard of those, but they were hilarious. I may be a little non-PC at times, but for someone to think that I was referring to something derogatory like that makes me feel dirty.
