Those Allis Chalmers engineers were nice enough to put the ether injection close to the operator's position. Usually that's a 2 man job. Good to see you back on KZbin.

Good to have you back Kyle. Would be nice to see it restored but sometimes it's just to much money and time.
@kylechrist Жыл бұрын
Unfortunately there are just too many little things wrong to justify fixing it. There would be much more invested than the end machine value. Thanks Larry

Allis bought Buhda engine line. Crazy cross head precombustion ports. Hard starting on a nice day. Great machines. Realistically a parts machine. The undercarriage parts alone are a fortune to replace. Great vid 😊
@kylechrist Жыл бұрын
Yep, my WD45 Diesel has a Buda 230 in it. You hit the nail on the head that parts alone would be more than what the fixed machine would be worth 👍

A nice drink of MMO might straighten that injector pump out. But i dont know A-C pumps.

I think you are right about that being a parts machine.

Nothing wrong with having a running parts machine. Used what you need and sell the rest for scrap or parts for someone else. Cheers
@jimackerman5323 Жыл бұрын
Seems like sometimes the best way is to break a unit up so that other units can live on… not every piece of equipment should be restored, parts have to come from somewhere, not like you can just go buy most of that stuff off the shelf. Jmho
@kylechrist Жыл бұрын
Jim, you are 100% correct. Good parts will be saved and help other machines live. The math doesn't work out to fix this one as it would cost way more to fix than what the end machine would be worth 👍

Kyle--I know of a 1945 Cat D4 Traxcavator near me in IL that "ran when parked" in the 90s. Couldn't find your email anywhere to send info. If any interest, reach out to me. Owner would probably let it go for a good price.

What are, if any, your video plans for the future regarding the projects that have been underway since last year? Have you reassessed the financial cost and need to continue with the Cat restoration since you already have one or more? Thanks, this was a cool video. I’d guess, with zero knowledge, that the scrap value of this AC is a few thousand bucks? Not really enough to cover the mechanics charge, and moving expenses?
@kylechrist Жыл бұрын
The plan is to continue with the RD-4 restoration, machine weight is 11 tons, so at 200 a ton its $2200 scrap value

Hi Luke the real answer here is we now know why South Dakota doesn't have many trees because everytime Kyle gets a new Dozer he has to try it out and take out some trees with the new toy every time that's a funny joke deforestation of South Dakota by one person with a new toy👍 hope you have a good Easter Luke

Never ever get out the ether until you see smoke. You should have fuel to the injectors before even touching it. That is a really good running engine. It just has a minor fuel problem.

Oh come on, You are giving up already?!? Squatch could save it. He is going to need another job now that his Swamp Angel is done.
@kylechrist Жыл бұрын
It's simple math and the machine value would be less than the money invested to fix it. As automotive companies would put it, it's beyond totalled
@oldamericaniron5767 Жыл бұрын
If it were a more desirable machine a person may save it but I agree not for what it is.
