watch some of Mr Hewes videos, he has a few videos showing bigger but similar fuel pumps, you also should check your valve gaps and do a compression test, to me one cylinder has low compression.

Cannot see where you have attached the fuel supply pipe. Is it where the pipe from the tank should attach to the lift pump? If so, it could be a diaphragm problem with the lift pump or blocked passage restricting the fuel flow into the injector pump. What is the return/overflow fuel pipe attached to? Constant running electric pump means it is either sucking air or, as someone else has mentioned, pumping diesel where you don't want it. Look at Matador Driver's handbook online pages 35 36 to see the oil levels in the injector pump, how to check and top up in necessary. Also page 60. If you do not get consistent bubble free diesel at the injector end of the supply pipes you are flogging the batteries for nothing. Go back and check flow through each part of the system logically and progressively till you find the reason for the lack of fuel supply using the hand primer. The engine sounds fine but they are always slow to rev up. Relatively low compression diesel, non turbo with gigantic flywheel.

@@dukwdriver2909 I have bypassed the original lift pump and connected straight to the fuel inlet pipe, the electric pump did quieten down once I had bleed the injection pump but it has always ticked continuously as I’ve used it on other projects, I had also topped up the pump oil level and checked the governor oil level, hopefully this weekend I’ll get a chance to start again, it was getting late in the day so like you said I need to start back at the beginning and recheck each step again. Thank you for your advice 👍

@@67Burwood Engine sounds good, you will get there without the dreaded easy start. Overflow pipe returns warm diesel to the tank which helps with waxing problems in extreme cold weather. Before heated lines were introduced. Think of the mileage similar AEC engines did in RT type buses, low stressed and just keep on going. Sound great too. My back aches just thinking about refitting the gearbox and transfer box.

@@knackeredrovers I cracked the injector pipes at both ends but it’s just not getting enough fuel, I think the control rod in the pump is stuck.

Have you bled the pump through? That fuel pump ticking all the time means that it is either air locked and not pumping anything, or it’s filling your sump with diesel.
@67Burwood2 ай бұрын
@ Yes I’ve bleed the pump, there’s a bleed valve at one end, the pump did quieten down when the pump was bleed through but that electric pump does tick all the time, I’ve used it on previous projects.

It does sound like your rack is stuck. Or possibly one of the plungers. Whip the side plate off and have a look.
