an apprentice in 1969 when a new freightliner was only twenty five thousand dollars. Someone had a wreck and it sat in the corner and we built it into a wrecker as a spare time project to keep the shop busy. When it was finished the accountant had a fit as the value was more than a new one.

Awesome, glad everyone is well! We also had large bouts of illness in December and January I firmly believe was Coronavirus as well. It might explain why no one here has caught it since testing has become available. I still enjoy watching you guys. I still wish I had been allowed to be more involved in the towing before my boss sold out the towing equipment. Be safe big guy! Easy on the hair products there... :)

It's really cool that home is where your heart is Jamie, I'm pretty sure that makes you a fortunate fella. Also, rotators are fantastic, they're a very cool and capable piece of equipment but it's difficult to justify all of the costs associated with that piece of gear that's not being used daily and paying it's own way. I've been in very similar situations and I think I have an understanding of the dilemma. It's kinda like taking away from your own family to have a big shiny machine in the yard. Keep on keepin' on Jamie!

It’s actually running again here in Sydney, AU on Foxtel A&E, tomorrow is S1 EP9. Have only seen a genuine Rotator here on the news at a bus accident last year in the metro area. We don’t have the bad weather like you do when heavy tow equipment is needed. Great show, pity it’s gone. Cheers. Peter H

Hello Jamie, I watched lots of your shows and love them all. I had a "79 U model Mack I ran from 1985 until 1992. I quit trucking because I could not figure out how to keep financially afloat. How do you buy all that expensive equipment and keep going. You sold off the new stuff and began running old stuff and then realized you need new equipment. I love that aspect of your show. I started trucking as an apprentice in 1
@ronsss47744 жыл бұрын
I've been watching the show from the start. Fun to watch someone else doing hard work . I'm surprised you do so much hand bombing when unloading. On hill sided, I'm wondering why you don't use the "yarding" logging technique to move stuff uphill? Run a cable to a tree (or even several to provide the base), tighten it, then hang a basket on that cable and use another to lower and raise it to roadside. Load the basket at the bottom of the hill, winch it up. No need to struggle one package at a time up the hill side. Cycling several baskets at top and bottom of hill would speed things up.

When building a heavy wrecker how do you match the wrecker body to the chassis? For example you have tandem trucks with only 25 Ton wrecker bodies but single axles (Python) with 22 ton wrecker bodies. Wouldn't you want to put the strongest wrecker body on that the truck could handle to have the greatest lifting power for recovery? Thanks

It would be great if jamie could review some tow trucks from other countries. For example in Australia almost all of the lighter duty tow trucks are tilt trays (roll backs) . In thailand tow trucks are built out of what you guys call mid sized trucks, then they tow much bigger vehicles with them.

I really felt for Jamie when he bought that rotator to clear the road quicker and then law enforcement gives half the business to an operation with dubious credentials to do the job. Seeing this lack of loyalty and appreciation for his efforts sickened me; having seen it locally I can feel the betrayal he must have felt. Getting into the more private areas of the business was surely the best move he could make for his business.

To answer Jamie's question yes he bought one and yes it is used The truck is called HR 56 it use to belong to LA Fire and Rescue and it was on their show on NatGeo when Newsum passed the new CEPA regulations Station 56 sold the truck to Jamie after a fan suggestion on their Twitter, KZbin, and Facebook page. If you watched the new episodes of Season 9 Jamie had three nasty wrecks so did Reliable, Aggressive, Mission, and United Towing trucks were going in the ditch, one went over a cliff, two hit the rock cut, there was that fuel spill, and that ATV trailer was on its side on the bridge into town. This is why you need a rotator the truck is old school but to Jamie this is what he needs if he has to call it up.

You should buy an older crane truck or a pipe laying bulldozer. The dozer you will have to truck around but would be perfect for those scary Cliffside pulls. You could take a winch truck from the oil fields and build your own boom at the back. A poor man's rotator would be a excavator with the crane attachment. Well just some ideas hope to see you again

When responding to a wreck and you find a truck stuck on a hill and stop to help, it seems like the tow truck just leaves after pulling him out. Are you under contract to tow them out or are they charged? If so, what is the average cost? On a big wreck, can you state the approximate cost of recovery operation without naming the company? If more than one company is involved with recovery, do you split the fee? Or can you do a video on how the cost of recovery is determined? Thanks.
