I wasnt born into a NASCAR family. I would say by fate I landed into a die hard nascsr fanship. I became a fan 15 years ago. My family are not fans. In fact they hate it because of my watching so much. I have been a fan in Utah where there is nobody to be a fan with. I have not been too critical of the playoff formats. I get nascar wants to spark interaction and wants to see big moments. That being said. This championship was crushing to me as a fan. Knowing the 11th place points driver won. And knowing that of the most qualified year long championship contenders only 1 maybe 2 were actually in the show. It just felt gross. I've never felt disenfranchised from this sport that I love. Not since I was 9 years old. The feelings im having about the sport scare me because I dont want to lose love for what has been my favorite thing for the majority of my life. I hope nascar will fix this. The sport is disgraced today. I hope they will realize that and make improvements.

NASCAR was not the only racing series that had long and boring races. Australian Supercars and the BTCC simply shortened the races and put on multiple races in a single day. That system works great. Fans get to see 2 or maybe 3 complete races in a day and no need for false cautions or stage breaks. With multiple races in a weekend the championship goes down to the last 3 race weekend. Also since they remain season long championships fans don't need rule interpreters to know who's leading the championship.

Sure Lagano won it fair and square. But the issues with the Chase come in when you have your best performers this season sitting on the outside looking in. The Chase penalizes drivers way too much for a couple bad races. Larson for example, led the most laps and won the most races. That achievement should have carried him more in the Chase but it was all for nothing. But this year shows a driver like Lagano can just win one race(he won 3 I know) and sit back for the rest of the season till the Chase starts. This Chase handicaps its stars, its like putting weights on Mahommes to make him easier to tackle or taking away the 3 point line from Curry to make him easier to beat. Thats all this Chase has done, make dominance irrelevant and take away the drive to go hard every weekend. Next we are going to see drivers taking "rest breaks" like NBA players do since there is no need to try hard as long as you are in the Chase at the end.

Hear me out... im not sure the old style winston points would be good for what nascars trying to do eventhough us purist would like it.. the argument is why should it come down to one race, one style of track, that may favor certain teams or drivers... what i purpose is still do the playoff format but instead of one race, when it gets down to the last 4 races make that the race for the championship. Have a road course, short track, superspeedway, and a mile 1/2 in the final round for all the marbles between the last 4 or 5 drivers standing that way ALL track type and driving skills are taken into consideration for who the champion is! And only reason i say 5 drivers is to give the regular season champ the automatic bid to that championship last 4 races, running great and being the best all year warrants a huge prize and that should be in... what yall think?
