@@vivienneduong6541 Athleticism, since Michigan doesn't throw the ball a ton I think the athleticism to run read options, speed options, and make the defense be scared of him as a runner will really open up passing lanes. Especially if they need to stack the box in order to stop it. Sherrone has not been shy about running the ball until you prove you can stop it.

Michigan's defense looks pretty good right now, but their offense will need to step up though if they wanna beat Texas. Michigan does have the home field advantage for this game and the next 3 games after, but that only gives so much. It's up to the players and coach, and how well they execute their plays that will determine the outcome of the game.

Think about it this way. Both Michael McDonald and Jesse Minter were excellent coordinators. Don Martindale was their mentor. Michigan's defense will be better than last years.

@Shaman196this texas secondary is very different from last years. it’s now more talented, and it still has the experience. according to pff (pro football focus) the texas db’s played tighter coverage on the washington receivers than the michigan db’s did. the difference was penix being amazing vs texas and horrid vs michigan. oh not to mention the fact that texas will still have a top 10 defensive line with great edge rushers, along with a great mix of talent and experience at the linebacker position.

Michigan returns almost their entire defense. They've earned the benefit of the doubt with their O Line and RBs. If Alex Orji is even as good of a passer as Denard Robinson, this team could repeat. I think Orji will be what Devin Gardner was supposed to be.

That said I hope Texas wins but I could see a situation where the lack of scouting and tape on Michigan doesn’t give Texas much to go on. They will have talent but so does Texas. Tuttle is a good quarterback. He also has some wheels and does present much more of a run threat than Warren, and unlike Orji he can actually throw the ball as well. If Michigan had Tuttle I think they could have a chance to repeat NC. With the guys they have now, I would say no.

I am more worried about losing Jesse Minter than I am anything else going into this season for Michigan. Defense was by far their strongest side of the ball the past 3 years, and he made sure they kept everything in front of them, which is particularly huge against the Buckeyes big air raid style under Day. If the defense falters, it could be a long (8-4,9-3) year

This is such a tough game to predict. Both teams lost a lot of talent to the draft. Michigan returns with a truly loaded defense still but has a few major question marks on offense namely w orji at qb and a young untested receiver room. Texas lost some monster receivers and is going without their number 1 and 2 running backs so you have to think they are going to be pretty one dimensional on offense but with that being said Ewers is really talented at the same time. Who knows, man? I think its all going to hinge for michigan on if orji can keep the offense moving and put enough points on the board for michigans D to keep them ahead. I give michigan a slight edge just because of how tough I think their defense is going to be to move the ball on especially if youre one dimensional and because the games in Ann Arbor.
