I am pleased to be part of your videos. I recently subscribed. I live in Hamilton Ohio I self taught myself Flint knapping With colbalt blue glass from bud light beer bottles. Also make primitive bows only as a hobby. I have found arrowheads here in Ohio That my research parts them as 8 to 10,000 yes old. I'm very interested in This type of history. My descendants are from England. Come over as professional revelotionary soldiers In 1775. I will be devoting time to watch your videos. Also I would like to tell you thank you for you. Amazing gentleman I are. The world needs more people like you and I 👍 Sincerely John K James Blankenship

Will Lord, you are a great man! It's nice to see someone with your intelligence, without the bitter hate that it tends to come with. I wish I was more like you!

Obviously, you were a knapper in your previous caveman lives. Excellent work and, a good philosopher as well. Greetings and admiration from Indiana, USA.

It was an amusing contrast for me to hear you relating the saga of your motor vehicle etc, while at the same time knapping a flint axe like those made by my ancestors 3000 years ago..That's about as "ancient and modern" as it gets! 😀 A question Will..... I shoot a flintlock rifle a lot and flints are getting hard to find here in NZ, I guess it is possible to knap new ones but flint is rare here in NZ, so what other stones might work? Some of my flints seem to have been knapped and some cut by machine, I could cut them out with a diamond wheel I think but I have a feeling the knapped ones work better, last longer and are easier to sharpen when dull by knapping tiny flakes off the working edge (we use a brass rod with a little ledge turned on one end for this) and it seems much more successful on the flints that appear to have been knapped rather than the cut ones. I have never knapped flint apart from touching up my rifle flints, but even at 80 I can learn (I'm actually a gun smith).... I would appreciate your ideas on this...... Thanks....

It’s a huge problem for the black powder industry now because the source of material isn’t being dug from the ground anymore but in America they quite often use agate that has been cut with diamonds. I personally made about half 1 million but I don’t do them anymore

Keep strong in the drought and floods Will! Mother nature isn't as bad as the people who live here and we know that. However we will continue on with what we know and achieve greatness in the end of it all! With love and care

Hell of a story, unfortunate set of circumstances / chain of events but you're still smiling and telling us about it whilst doing something you love to do. I visited grimes graves in approximately 1985 an amazing site, I tried to imagine the work the hard life and the business attached to the mine all those years ago. I wish you better luck for the future.

That was a fantastic wee chat. It's amazing how you manage to talk about your "silly" wee mistakes and moments in which your concentration lapses while doing something few people alive can do with such skill. Such humbleness and humility is rare. 🤘

Caves have been the first sacred places of humanity, and in many instances they still are. Stepping in a cave is like stepping in a world ruled by spirits where human senses fail us. The engravings and paintings are a testimony of this fact. A cave never belongs to anyone. Instead, we must acknowledge that we are only visitors and respect it and its inhabitants, as you said. What caves did you visit while in Spain? Hope you'll get a chance to visit the caves in southwestern France next time!

i always find when you go outside your routine a lot of times the shit hits the fan (murphys law) - because you are in new territory or unfamiliar surroundings. On a different note some months back i went to visit a friend who was getting a septic put in, and he showed me the size of the flint dug up, these pieces were huge there is no way 2 blokes could pick them up. they have to get in Excavators to remove them, i really wanted a big piece but it was way too much trouble. My mate also said they explode in the fire BIG time, feckin scary. I have never seen flint like it, but all around that area there is so much flint and limestone.

I missed you and your flint knapping I'm glad to see your luck is turning around. Threes years back my wife almost passed with my unborn son I had been growing a beard the whole pregnancy for good luck and I don't know what it was I guess you could call it a feeling inside me. The feeling was trim my beard off and burn it with tobacco for good luck. The next day she immediately got better now some people would say that's just the drs and meds but I don't see it that way. The spiritually of what I did and that feeling helped in my opinion.

(Alan) ....... Been there done that with putting in petrol instead of diesel. It can get confusing as my van was diesel and the car petrol. I think it ended up costing me about £200. I hope you are well ?, the last time we met you were in Ramsey, that was a while back. Also met your dad back in 2017 when Phil Harding was giving a talk in Bury. I hope he is well ?

Will i was cureous, do you think people of old could have, or would have used dense hardwoods, like hawthorn, or oak for a soft hammer, if they did not have access to antler, or bones? Just thinking outside the box, and thinking with a make do attitude. Great videos, thankyou.
