Will MERCARI Be The Next Biggest RESELLING Platform?

Mercari is going to be one of the biggest reselling platforms in 2024 because of this new change. I haven't sold anything on Mercari since 2021 but since they are offering zero seller fees. I will be one of the new sellers re-joining the platform. What do you think about the new changes Mercari has made.

I love Mercari. Three day return has been in place, but the $2 fee to get paid is new. Resellers coming over to Mercari should be prepared to lower prices to compensate for the unfavorable shipping structure.

The only concern I have is the return policy they have implemented! I plan to cross-list a few items to the platform and see how it goes, I can always stop if I so choose. I plan to test it out starting in April for 60 days and see if it will be worth my while. Wish me luck

Mercari will not get bigger or better. Mercari is now charging customers fees not sellers. Sales will go down due to customer added fees. They now charge you $2 to get your money that already takes an average of 10 days to get. Plus their customer service is not good.

Good for sellers but awful for buyers we now have to pay all kind of extra fees.. AWFUL idea.

If you sell your items at a lower price in comparison to eBay and Poshmark you can still make great money since this is no fees. You just have to set up your store well enough so that buyers feel move incentivized.

I initially thought this was a bad change, but after getting to see it in action, it seems like a huge positive. I mostly sell $5-$10 items and Mercari's flat rate processing fee absolutely obliterated my margins. Their claim of a "10%" fee was total BS. I was paying 25%+ on every single order at my prices (The processing fee was HIGHER than the Mercari fee at my prices). Now that the fee has shifted from the seller to the buyer, I tested things for myself and put a $10 item in my cart to see what it would cost me. If using my Mercari balanace, there is about a 7.5% fee. That is a MASSIVE decrease from the 25% I was paying as a seller, so I am able to lower my prices significantly which is great for me because my stuff sells faster and I make the same profit margins, and it's great for my buyers because they're getting an even lower price since the fee is so much smaller on their end.

Yeah, I get my items for 25 cents each, and this new feature has been changing my business. I typically get a $10 profit per item after taxes and fees, but now it will be about $13 now since i don't have to pay seller fee. Sold 30 items so far since the new feature! This is going to change the game like it did my business! Only up from here! Source for super low price, sell at a great price for buyers...your business is golden! :)

There are fees to have your money transferred to your bank. Whether you transfer ACH or the slow way, directly to your bank. The buyer can return for any reason. The buyer is also getting sacked with big fees to purchase. Shipping is terrible and that hasn't changed. I'm not sold on the new Mercari thing. I have heard talk of bankruptcy. I don't know if that's true, but I'm not willing to lose any money. I, personally, withdrew my money and deactivated my listings. I want to see how this plays out.

I have been selling on ebay and mercari for six years. Ebay is my main platform. I have sold 3000 things on ebay and 820 things on mercari. I have sold three things on mercari since the change. I like your take on the changes. Many people are pessimistic about the changes. You and I are optimistic.

I wish Ebay would copy Mercari and allow sellers to do a 3 day return window plus only 3 days to send the return back. It is a policy that works well for the seller and buyer.

How come everyone remembers the 2.9% payment fee but fails to acknowledge the other service fee the buyers pay which is around 8% Your buying pool is getting smaller by the day on Mercari.

I have items that I sell on Mercari, and I sell different items on eBay they stopped the 2-dollar fee to take your money out the slow way (for now) shipping is not bad depends on where the seller lives even gives them the option to pick it up.

I've only sold 3 items on Mecarri in the last two years. I sell Computers. The majority of my computer sales are on eBay.

Me too. I sold 2 items on Merc last year and 2 items this year on Merc. This is going against the buyer. Yes, sellers are given relief. I'm a buyer of supplies on Merc and if I buy a $10 item and hit with fee after fee after fee + shipping, I'm not buying it. As for Posh, the auction shows are killing it -- for other sellers. If you're not on LIVE auctions, you're left behind. Merc had to do something because it's losing buyers and sellers. It's not competitive against the platforms.

Change can be good and positive if you go into it with a positive attitude and help to make it a positive experience for your business. It sometimes takes work but if you put in the requirements it can be very beneficial!

Totally disagree one of the worst business decisions I’ve ever seen. Mercari has turned off social media comments because of backlash. Shifting fees to the customers will turn away buyers at checkout. On the surface it sounds good and it will grab sellers which is their goal, and a fee to direct deposit is insane

It;s all good until you have a problem, they don;t have live customer support, and they can choose not respond, and hold your fund forever. I don't think you should be promoting them.
