Solution: work until 70 to max out Social Security. More service years gives you a higher federal pension. Pay off house, pay off car. Go to a 2% rule if you need TSP to survive. If that’s still not enough, work longer or get a part job in retirement

This is the best solution for some Federal employees! Some also benefit from an earlier retirement depending on their goals and situation.

Your graph makes it look scary and depending which part of the graph you want to show. If you show from 1999 to 2022, you will see a big increase and may triple the value of 500K. Cannot do anything on inflation, taxes, and expenses. However, you can also live below your mean, save more, use SS and pension for your monthly expenses and use your ISP or 401K for the fun money.

This was a great 👍🏾 video gives me something to think about 🤔. I have been in the C fund only for 30 plus years. I am retiring in the next few years at 57. I figure there should be one more crash before l retire because the returns for the last 5 years have been ridiculously high (over 15 percent average). I am only looking for an average of 5 percent and l was planning to move into a less risky L fund when l retire. However if l can get a safe 5/6 percent a year on my money in an IRA, that maybe an option once l reach 59.5 . I am going to have to research and compare fees. I should be able to keep my taxes in the 24 percent bracket once retired. Thanks for sharing this information .
