Looks to me like Dixon was trying to be a gentlemen and thought he was moving off the racing line so Power could stay on the throttle, and simply mistimed it. One of those cases of trying to do the right thing and making it worse. Either that or he didn’t see him at all. No way was this intentional.

Dixon would not do that intentionally, but there is NO good reason for him to move left where he did, especially when he was not at racing speed. It was just a careless move by Dixon, and he should apologize to the entire Penske team for the damage he caused during a completely avoidable practice incident.

I wonder if he either got into the gas too much and spun a bit or if he had some weird lockup that caused him to shoot across the track. I think Dixon was trying to warm the rears by doing a burnout and it stepped out more than he was expecting. You can see the tire marks he left behind and it looked like the front wheels were pointed towards the right side of the track, not the left.
