Thanks for reacting to this gem of a video from Aurora. The lead singing here was her first take in 2017 and then stored away, she felt it was not right to release it. Then covid came and everything changed. People were isolated in their homes and all events got cancelled. She felt now was the time to spread some love, added some backing vocals and had it mixed. For the video she had an idea to emerge from a clam shell and play with pearls. She had sister Victoria make her an outfit and herself stripping all beads/pearls from old outfits and the result is just soo endearing. At the end when camera zooms out you notice that she is on a real stage but there is no audiencea, so it is a nod to the situation for performers. It is one of her best music videos in my book and unlike any others from her.

Thank you for the info, I love when artists do everything themselves! Every piece of the performance speaks to who they are! This is epic!

Her first and only pure love song! It has 1920's and flapper fashion vibes. The imagery in the video is inspired by The Birth of Venus, a painting by Botticelli.

One of her best video's! In my opinion Aurora is almost always better live but this video is one of my favorites.

They made almost everything theirself, Aurora directed the video herself. The headpice: she used 3 days (or was it 4?) taking pearls from old clothes and making a headpice of them. The audio you hear is from the old demo they recorded when they made the song, they also kept it on the records, Aurora say that is not perfect, but it had a warmth that her and Magnus wanted to keep.

It was her first love song and she wrote it back in 2017, when she felt this kind of love, but thought she might never release it. I guess she was hesitant about love songs for some reason, and it also didn't fit the songs and styles she was working on at the time for her 2nd album. It was finally recorded in January 2020, and then released during Covid lock down in May 2020, when she felt her fans needed some love, and it became the 1st single from her 3rd album, which wasn't released until 20 month later in Jan 2022! She also wrote a "sister song" to this one called "A Potion For Love", which is a sad love song for those who lost their love. Here are some quotes from Aurora about the songs: "I think once in a while we all need something to remind us of the good that exists in the world. And why we exist. Right now the world is going through a lot, together, but we are also isolated. You try to listen to the world when making music. And I felt like the world needed a little love right now." "'Exist For Love' is the first love song I ever wrote. But as most of my songs, it has a much larger and deeper meaning than just love between two individuals. I believe that love is one of the strongest forces we have on this planet and in us people. And I believe that once we learn true, pure and unselfish love, we are reminded of why we exist, and I think we understand why we are here, once we learn that that kind of pure love exist, which is quite beautiful. And I love many things... and many people." "When I wrote 'Exist for Love', a celebrations of the love we carry within us, I also wrote 'Potion for Love'. I wanted to also give something to the people who had lost their love. I find it so beautiful how we still find the bravery to give and receive love knowing how it can disappear at any moment. It makes it foolishly beautiful. Painfully delicious. So little connected to the mind and to logic that it makes my little heart want to burst."

Her first love song that she uploaded during the pandamic because she wanted us to feel love! One of my favourites ❤

Pretty sure you haven't heard this one (it's not in the HAIK documentary). I'm not the biggest love song guy in the world, but I just absolutely love this song and video. In the hands of someone else, it could come across as very sappy and cringy, but with Aurora it is absolutely beautiful, in part because of her authenticity. You believe every word that she's singing. Fun fact: The main vocals and guitar were recorded together on the first take. Aurora wanted to use the first take, to make it sound authentic (there's that word again). Of course, you'd never really know it, because she always sounds great. Also, the pandemic forced them to be a little more creative for the music video, and wow, I think the music video is absolute perfection.

"They say there is the war between a man and a woman" is from a Leonard Cohen song.
@yarsheets457210 ай бұрын
The song is called "There is a War." Exist for Love also includes a line from Leonard Cohen's song "Suzanne," singing "We are leaning out for love and we will lean for love forever." Cohen sings, "They are leaning out for love and they will lean that way forever," but either way, it's Cohen.

It's the style of guitar playing that almost makes it sound like they are playing a Guzheng. I think that's one of the reasons for the Asian sound that you're hearing.

I've heard this song referred to as Baroque pop and I think that is a fitting term. This song really harkens back to earlier styles of music. It sounds like a modernized version out of an old movie... like one of those lounge club scenes with a female singer crooning a love ballad. I'm ashamed to admit that I didn't much care for this one the first time I heard it because it's so different from her other work - and very different in comparison to the rest of the tracks on this album. But it quickly grew on me. And it fits the theme of the album. This is from her 2020 album The Gods We Can Touch. Each song is about a different God or Goddess of Greek/Roman mythology. Exist for Love is about Aphrodite - which is why she's in a large oyster shell... as Aphrodite was born inside a large oyster shell. You'll see this in a lot of artwork of Aphrodite.

Hey Will! Great reaction 😊 I absolutely love this song and music video😍 It’s of course great live as well👍 Asked about her experience directing the music video, she said: "It was wonderful! I love directing videos, and I tend to enjoy being in control. Especially when it comes to my own art. During times like these, you have to get a little extra creative. Which I enjoy. We had to keep it local, and simple. But that seemed to be the perfect thing for this song. Everything I am wearing is also self-made by me and my sisters out of old clothes. Very fun." See you😊

The first thing you said was that you thought you had heard it before , well i dont know if have listened to any Leonard Cohen but the first line is a line from one of his songs "There Is A war" between the man and the woman. Near the end she sings "We are leaning out for love and will lean forever " this is also sang in the last verse of his song "Suzanne". Her father listened to a lot of Cohen / Dylan and Enya and so there is some influence there .I dont see or hear any Asian connection , more a 20s / 30s theatre vibe

Be careful with the sitting! I'm 40 now...but in 2016, at only 33, I had a scary incident.... I used to do graphic design freelancing at home. I'd inevitably be sitting for hours at a time...often tucking my right leg under my left knee. Well....one day I stood up from that position, and out of nowhere was 100% certain I was about to die. Tunnel vision, heart RACING, drenching sweat, trouble breathing, etc. Several doctor visits later, a CT scan finally confirmed I'd had a small blood clot behind my left knee....come loose and travel to my lung. Pulmonary Embolism. Something like 20% of the time it's lethal. That scared me enough to totally alter my relationship to sitting. I barely ever sit these days...like almost never. Luckily, I also work at an indie bookstore now and am on my feet the entire time. Not trying to make you anxious....simply a gentle warning. At 33, and in pretty darn good health, I had zero expectation that something like that could happen to me.

Initially a bit to sugary sweet for my taste, but I did admire why she released it when she did. I concluded this one just wasn't for me. Then I saw some acoustic live performances with just her on the piano, or with the excellent Fredrik and his guitar, and it clicked. The Exist For Love sessions (where she also performs the lovely "Dance On The Moon") was one such performance. The suddenly I could also enjoy this version so much more.
