The problem is they reduce the number of jobs. Especially in labor. One robot could replace multiple warehouse/construction/customer service workers. While only 1 human to overlook said robot. And the human population is rising. Robots make jobs more efficient, less expensive, and more productive.

In order for it to be a new species it would have to be an organic living thing. A robot is the same thing as a car a computer a washing machine. Putting human features on something doesn't make it alive. It will however will replace the middle class and the working poor employment. I don't think this is about eliminating the entire human race instead eliminating a certain population of humans working poor depended on government assistance a middle-class welder who will depend on SSI some day. People with independent wealth will survive. There is no use for the rest of us. Whole society is about to change won't happen over night but already in motion. Witness this with the automatic temperature reader iPad at work the lady who's job it was to take temperatures name numbers and ask questions was laid off at the facility last year. Fastfood will eventually just be a vending machine.

What happens when the BS jobs are gone (machines doing that sort of work)? Corporations aren't spending money on inventing NEW (non BS) jobs! "Why don't you become a brain surgeon? Robots can't do THAT job!"

No, that won't happen. If being smart were the only factor in winning the evolutionary race, humanity would be doomed. Robots can only speed up the processing of information, much like machines did in the 1900s. Back then, some people freaked out and tried to fight the machines with pitchforks, but the machines never retaliated by attacking humans. People who can use AI will likely be more valuable than those who can't.
