India is about to finish the development of Indigenous ballistic missile defence system that can monitor and target ballistic missile target towards india upto 5k kms.

The problem is rockets are cheap but missiles of Irondome are not which means they will fire rockets in bulk but Israel can't do this. Missiles of S-500 are also costly. India needs something that is cheaper than rockets like LASER or EMP type of weapons.

India needs to develop a low cost antidote to a barrage of low end missiles. S500 plus and Iron dome and patriot systems are too expensive to waste on low grade incoming missiles. Iron dome may be effective but let’s work on a low cost one. Only India can do this ..

S400 defence system should be best paired with XR-SAM & ER-SAM also MR-SAM, Prithvi AD etc.... Surely S500 or S500s defence system would surely complement our air defence systems but there should be some level of (T.O.T.) transfer or Indigenous Manufacturing.......🙏

You judge through range of retailing missile bt it's not simple in that way. There is radius calculation which includes land range and air range cover. India has indigenous defence shield like prithvi and SAM which is enough to deal with any air threat.

Russia itself is having difficulties in producing high tech systems. They are facing problems delivering S400. S500 will be no brainer. They need to first produce it for themselves. India already has MR SAM program which is like S400 and will complement it.

India already has ALL the building blocks of a S500 like Advanced Defence Shield So it makes No sense to spend valuable ForEx to buy the Russian system Secondly, 5000 or so rockets can overwhelm Any defence shield. However, I feel that a DEW that works like a defence shield can adress many if not all concerns.

India is not Israel,Israel is so small that's why rocket works against them , Pakistan have to use long range missile. Which is costly to make . even rocket are not working against ukraine, which is quite smaller than india. I guess max range for a rocket is 20_30 km so it will not work against india.

Instead of buying s500 from russia india should make its own air defence system. It will led india become more self reliable rather than depending on russia during the time of war. Hypothetically there is a war between india or china and you knw nwadays russia is more tilt towards china and there is say - there is no permanent friends in geopolitical, only permanent interest. Thus,China will not let russia to sell missiles n batteries of s500 during the time of war. Therefore make in India is very important for bharat to become self reliant.
