100% agree with the combination rune change. that one aspect makes me want to reject the update as a whole as an ironman; the'yre hard enough to get as is and are MEANT to be a convenience.

If the new elemental rune (/existing elemental staff) just works anyway, the change is basically pointless. If it doesn't work then that sounds incredibly tedious depending on what spells they change. No one cares about breaking out the lava staff for an enchant once every 6 months, but if I need to add a 4th rune pouch/reconfigure them all then it's just a pointless annoyance. Having to wear a binding necklace to get the full amount of combo runes was already the least tedious part of making combo runes. I'd rather they kept that aspect and just created separate altars, scrapping the talisman/imbue/use opposite rune aspect instead.

I find making the combo runes a requirement rather than a suggestion much better as the item existing along side "elemental runes" is SUPER pointless. I'm on board, but know it will shake the status quo bad. I've never seen them as a convenience, but saw the way the currently worked for people to not complain about how tedious they are to make. My hope would be that they are easier to make with the changes given they are required as the spells state.

They're trying to make RC profitable.... either they have to remove all runes from drop tables, or they have to make combination runes a requirement, or they have to make every ability cost full runes similar to pre EoC. Pick one, or suggest another option, but don't hate on their choice just because it makes best in slot spells cost something to cast....

Runecrafting IS profitable as it is, probably one of the better methods period and they are trying to reduce the cost of combination runes as stated in the blog; wouldn’t that mean they are doing the complete opposite?

​@@ChevalricRS Cost per rune will go down, but more consistent rune production and increased demand means profits should go up Presently end-game RC is profitable, but it appears to be aggressively less relevant at low-mid levels, due to the over-supply of mob-dropped runes. But perhaps profit is the wrong word; perhaps we should be talking about the skill being relevant. Requiring combination runes for spells reintroduces RC to magic's lifecycle, hopefully reviving RC from the category of 'dead content'. Runecrafters regaining some say in the value of runes, where mob drops govern most prices currently, is just a bonus.

Maybe I'm being stupid but if by the example the Lv-5 enchant spell you need an Earth, Water, and Cosmic Rune and with the update need lets say a Mud rune. You're saving space. What's the problem? They are asking for feedback rn and specifically address production as an issue.

As it stands right now you can use both, but they want it so you can only use mud? Which IMO goes against their idea of making them cheaper and more accessible, making them more useful at the same time

@@ChevalricRS Believe they say a few high level spells, not all spells, and are asking for suggestions. Hope they have a multiplier like regular runes. Let's not forget staves already exist for them except Smoke, Mist, and Dust. I understand what you're saying but production shouldn't be a problem with no failure and double production with a Binding necklace, it's still a few months away.

@ChevalricRS The MINIMUM loot table drops for runes, even from the lowest level mob, is still a higher hourly rate than producing runes yourself....so yes, it's a dumb skill with no purpose.

I realy don't get why all the contint to watch is group ironman seems like 0 meaning to watch JAGEX needs to revert a lot of changes in the game to make it thrive I still think wildy events should be opt in as a requirement to get the dark core if you opt out you have no chance to get it but you'll get a small reward comeing from a old pvper wanting pvp contint again this is my change I'd love to see in rs3 and I know a lot of peaple that want it reverted and they'd even return to rs
