France has been gripped by two events that are happening in the coming weeks.
One, is the Summer Olympic Games in Paris...
But the other, is the snap election called by president Emmanuel Macron, after Marine Le Pen's far-right National Rally, made huge gains in European elections.
With Macron's Ensemble alliance teetering on the edge of collapse, the stakes couldn't be higher.
His decision to call an early election has galvanised all side of the political spectrum.
But can Macron's centrist vision survive?
Or is the French Republic on the brink of a significant political shift?

On the other hand, I don't see that dope, *Thierry Mariani's* point. How did that _"French _*_history_*_ with Algeria, Tunisia, Morocco, and 'Africa'"_ he mentioned come about in the first place? Did the French establish this history at the *invitation* of the nationalities of these places? Why does France refuse to stop pestering New Caledonia? His hypothetical *analogy of a French migrant* coming in without a visa and then getting "free money," health care, and "more rights than citizens" is preposterous on the face of French colonial history and a long legacy of pirating wealth from around the world. Unlike the French, who came uninvited with predatory motives, migrants come because they are fleeing hardship. French factories, hospitals, small businesses, and even soccer teams are teeming with immigrants. Would they be seen in those venues if they were getting free money or handouts? He wailed about migrants having "more rights" than "some French people." Does this mean that French citizens don't enjoy the same rights?

Another thing that is always left out of the conversation, because we (media) Don't want to believe it, is overpopulation. I worked at a paper, where for 20 years we went on and on about growing the population. That we don't have enough. Meanwhile, once again the population went up by almost 2 billion. We never factor in the obvious when we talk about "mass" migration, tourism, etc.

@@rosssmith8481 The reports concern the _aging_ populations in Europe and elsewhere that are outpacing birth rates. Do you have evidence that this isn't the case? It is hard to imagine that any report on "population growth" [in your case, the alleged "growth by almost 2 million"] factors out the contribution of immigration over the years.🙂

@Lamin_G It took almost 6,000 years (1804) for the world population to reach 1 billion. 123 years for 2 billion. 1927 33 years for 3 billion. 1960 14 years for 4 billion 1974 13 years for 5 billion 1987 12 years for 6 billion 1999 14 years for 7 billion 2011 13 years for 8 billion 2023 Part of our propaganda was: infinite growth with finite resources. The population will always age. We first based this on the scare of the baby boomers about to retire. But since they have already retired and some have died off, we now just call it an aging population. Also, years ago, we stripped the title gen x from Gen x and told them they were baby boomers too. Which is a 20 year generation. Somehow, we convinced people that the generation that brought you the hippie era was the same generation that brought you the punk/new wave era. So just based on numbers you can see the population is not going down or slowing down.

Do not be surprised if Australia holds the 2024 Olympic games. A RN victory will, and a NPF win may, lead to wide scale public disorder, strikes, civil disobedience etc. The IOC may have to relocate the games at short notice. Don’t be surprised if a country with a strong olympic record and with good facilities pick up the games.
