You must be relieved John. A normal days detecting. It'll do your ticker the world of good 😄 Had an early morning start of an average finds day yesterday. The fields were shrouded in fog which later evaporated in the beautiful sunshine here in South Hampshire. It was magical just to be out. A nice musket ball, couple of Silvered battered buttons, lead bullet and possible strap mount which I'll need to put on the MDF forum. Not so sure though. Oh and a 1990s 50p 😉

Hi John, you should try a Nox 800 or 900 or even the Manticore on that Gold Noble field. On the 800 a manual noise cancel is best and I think the Manticore has a long button press extra noise cancel. The D2 does not like some power lines or wi-fi from buildings and becomes unusable. The Nox 800 works well near or under power lines if a manual noise cancel channel is selected. I would use a big coil and bungee. But if loads of iron in the ground the Coiltek 10x5 is magic and light too!

I would expect a sprue to show the shape of the poured lead on top--either a dome, if the lead did not shrink much (low volume), or a concave with a lip. I can't see flat with marks on the top.

With the small lead item you called a sprue the first thing that popped into my mind is a gaming piece. It has a nice level flat end to stand up on a board. Possibly crudely made in the settlement for entertainment. You have after all found a few similar and crude lead dice as well. Researching this I have found a photo of different styles of pieces from a game called Torksey posted by the Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge.

I believe those lead pins where uses in slip-on shoes they used in the fields. The are spikes they put in the buttom. Now i an not a 100% sure that is what they are. They used lead because it is cheap and easily replaced or repaired. I have hear of them before in my reading history books.

I think the coolest part is when you bring something up from the Earth you are very knowledgeable about what and if you don't know you find out. In the state's lot of that so unfamiliar to us. .. I did have a question for you.. you said of gold" reale "? I thought the silver was a reale.. and the gold was a doubloon? Can you clarify that for me please... I'm just thinking from the point-of-view of a " Spanish reale .. being on your side of the world that might be different than what I am thinking. Thanks.. now get out there and find some more treasure! 🏴‍☠️

Nice one again! At about 8:00 the lead thing that you think might be a sprue (no L in it) I think it could be a lead rivet? The countersunk head would have been hammered into and taken the shape of a countersunk hole. The other end which may have had a similar head at one point could have been drilled off to release it from its hole. But what would a lead rivet have been used for?? Anyway keep up the great vids!! I think your Golf tees might be a rivet shear pin from an early plough blade. the angle shank would fit flush in the blade and if you hit a rock it would break and the blade fall off to save damaging the blade later ones are the same but steel with a thread for a nut. A lead rivet would have been easier to make for a local blacksmith when making a plough
