Spoken from the mind and heart. Right on and great analysis. I have had some of the same concerns about Villa fans when we lose. On social media, seems like some of those folks are (Birmingham) City trolls, the rest are just bad fans. They make the sport tedious at times, so much so that I stay away from social media when Villa lose. That said, I'm nervous about who City has back for this match (Rodri and KDB were not in the first leg at Villa Park. ) Grealish is going to want and need a sterling performance against his old team. Villa have many of our starting players out, but I am sure Prof. Unai will have those who are left very well-prepared. My head says a draw 1-1, but my heart says we steal one here, 1-2. Goals by Grealish, Bailey, and Pau Torres.

@prometheus6688 Arsenal was our last worrying fixture. Out of our last 8, only Villa and Spurs are really challenging, maybe even Brighton. Villa aren't the team we faced at Villa Park already this season and Watkins might not be playing. We have already beaten Spurs at home this season in the FA Cup and seeing as they lost 3-0 to Fulham, they don't seem to be in great form. People were saying Arsenal already won the league at this stage last season and look what happened. West Ham beat Arsenal 2-0 at Emirates, Luton beat Brighton 4-0, Sheffield United drew 1-1 with Aston Villa. Arsenal nearly drew with Luton but scored a last minute goal to win it. Luton gave Arsenal a very tough game, Nottingham Forest did the same to Liverpool. Anything can happen. The season ain't over, 'til it's over. Have faith.

Being a Villa fan i"m impressed with your knowledge on our injury situation that's rarely been mentioned by the mainstream media / pundits & we've had alot of it to deal with all season with key players unavailable, most other opponents fan bases seem to over look it, but some clubs have not shut up about their injury list & are quick to use it as an excuse when things don't go their way. Our squad depth is better than most football people seem to believe it is & the whole squad has been fully utilised well by our fantastic manager Unai Emery who's really got everyone attached to Villa on the same page & deserves alot of credit for the brilliant job he's doing at Villa, after some desperate times in the recent past us Villa fans have our club back again & we can be proud of it. Alot of credit must go to our current owners of 6 years who saved our great club from possibly going extinct not so long ago in dark times in the championship, their commitment & input is fully appreciated by most Villa fans. Im the type of fan that want to sell Erling Haaland. He is not suitable for City any more, other teams know how to shutdown him completely. He can only do two things now: pressing and dual. We should buy a strike like Harry Kane(or Alvarez but bigger), who know how to pass and cooperative to others. He is the top scorer, but also the top miss of big chances. Last season he scored 52 goals, yes. But he is not the player that carried us through all difficult game. They are Gundo, Kevin and Bernado. He is 100% the player of the small games. Only score when our team already win, only score when any others carries the match, only score when some one feeds him. He can't even score by heading or tap-in recently. Oscar Bobb also took on the task of scoring on the national team for him. Im sure he can't score more than 5 goals in the remaining 12-16 possible matchs. Maybe he can get a repoker against poor Luton, for examble. But what does it mean when he is completely silent in big matches? He is not suitable for us, sell him to any club that doesnt play ball control tactic. That's better for us and for him.

With respect Johnny, the league is over barring a miracle. Why? I base my opinions on the current facts on the ground & not performances of prior teams with different players, tactics and chemistry. This season our creativity and conversion have both fallen dramatically compared to past seasons, our defense is poorer (amazing game yesterday keeping a clean sheet, but 1 game doesn’t disprove a pattern of poor defensive performances); Pep’s tactics this season have been questionable to poor in many games as you’ve discussed (and I agree) which has led to us dropping points - from forcing Alvarez in the midfield well after it’s been proven not to be a good tradeoff to playing him LW (with 1 game of evidence to show for it) to trading in Walkers outstanding defensive skills for an okay attack to playing wingbacks with players who aren’t true wingbacks (credit to Gvardiol for an amazing job yesterday even tho he’s a natural CB) to leaving Rodri exposed in midfield to be overrun by opposition midfield in repeated games to admitting a game needed more control but waiting until the 69th min to do anything about it a potential title deciding game etc. Pep has given us little evidence to suggest he knows his best 11 let alone will consistently play his best players in their best positions. Again, these are all empirical facts from which I’m basing my opinion, and we all thought Pep would change with 15 games to go then 12 and so on, but he really hasn’t. Does anyone truly have an idea of who he will pick when everyone is healthy? With few exceptions, it’s a head scratcher as to what Pep will do unlike this time last year, the year before, the year before etc. All that said, I think we can win the FA cup and have a damn good shot at the CL as long as Pep plays his best players in their best positions AND we setup to and or try like hell, to do what we can to feed the big man up top. Last season Pep allowed for some great counter attacking football which goes to most of Haaland’s strengths - speed, agility, power and lethal finishes - yet this season, with one exception I can think of, the players seem to ignore him when he makes runs, the pass sideways or backwards which allows the opp defense to reset and then we try and function in small spaces. And that’s fine to a point, but if that’s all we do, we underutilize Haaland’s skills as well as become too predictable like what we saw in the Arsenal game. Slow tempo allowed them to reset, Haaland marked out if the game and were effectively playing with 10 not 11. Last season we were more unpredictable in our attack and Haaland thrived off it. This year, we’re much more predictable which isn’t helping our loss of creativity with Gundo and Mahrez (45GA gone and didn’t bring in anyone of quality to make up for it) and so we’re suffering more. Throw in Pep changing tactic with this absurdly high line and now we’re more susceptible to counters and conceding goals which we’ve been doing all season. I don’t want to sell Haaland. Not in a million year like some of these fools online. What I want to see is Pep setting his team up for success and to stop tinkering as the time for that has well past. Remember, last season Pep wasn’t as obsessed with control and set up teams for success by not being so rigid. He seems to have gone back to being more rigid this season. What we did last season worked so well and the only times I can think where we played as close to those formations was Copenhagen when Jack got injured (that was the best 20 min of City football I’ve seen all season) yet as soon as Jack got injured, the balance of control was gone and the game became more chaotic. Perhaps Doku isn’t the answer when we need control. Perhaps trying Bobb would be a good go-btwn Jack and Doku, yet Pep refuses aside from the NU game and Bibb scored and looked great. Let’s see more of him. For me, it all depends on Pep and his flexibility in setup, personnel and philosophy moving forward. Can we win the PL? Yes but it is highly improbable given everything I’ve said AND we need Arsenal & LFC to drop points while we have to win EVERY game and given our season form, I don’t see that as remotely happening. Yes I have some hope, but no conviction that it will happen. For me, focus on the FA and CL. We could def win those
