I am fed up with some united fans wanting a playing style similar to arsenal or city, the only man utd style I grew up watching is defend well and attack, kind of like real Madrid, win by any means necessary. Man utd has never been a system team, that's why were always unpredictable. I don't want a system manager.Just defend better than ur opponent and attack better.

I actually agree with this. I know its the most unpopular opinion to have nowadays, but I will keep pointing to Real now, and to us under Fergie. Funny thing is, it works ! No one can tell you what style of play this Madrid side plays exactly, or the one under Zidane for that matter. However they can all agree Madrid never lets go till the final whistle. We did the exact same thing for 2 decades and dominated the PL. This is why I cant, for the love of me, understand why ppl are so obsessed by "style". All post Fergie managers had distinct styles and they all failed. IMO style is great when paired with a good winning mentality and a very healthy portion of good old preparing for the season before hand. Like Pep does at City. Otherwise, just winning works great IMO.

I agree with you in theory but in 2024 the quality of players means that what you describe is only possible with the best quality players in the world, which we don't have. There's a reason that there aren't many with the old UTD play style nowadays; the new gen players tend not to be good enough to pull it off.

Went from Neverkusen to Nervelosen in 2 years under a manager that had coached U23 prior to that. And the players he is doing it with? Rejects from bigger clubs. Best quality players ? BS ! Dortmund is at a final with 2 players about to retire. A lad that was dubbed the new "virus" at our club, and some other guys that only their mother knows who they are. Meanwhile Chelsea went on a buying spree and are winning fck all. Same as Arsenal btw who have spent over a billion and 4 years on Arteta only to also win fck all. GOOD MANAGERS is all it takes. You think ETH can do what Carlo is doing at Real ? Fck no he cant. You think Arteta ever wins La Liga or UCL at Real? like fck he does ! Its all about managers and their coaching teams not the players. Rest is BS that clueless pundits and ex players spew. Players have never been the deciding factor of any game. Thats why we got battered by Palace and made their trash tier players look like prime Messi. Manager diff ! Edit: Only players to actually make a diff on their own are the likes of Messi/CR7/R9/Cantona/Maradona/Pele. And those are so few they only serve as the exception that proves the rule
