Because what you are missing is that Europe is closer than to Saudi Arabia. To get to Saudi Arabia you have to walk and drive more.

Sad to say, but actually it's not Europe's problem. I think Europe has done a lot. In Germany, not half of the refugees have found a job after almost 10 years. Instead, they are paid entirely by German taxpayers, some of whom are annoyed that many Syrians do not integrate and that there are simply too fundamental cultural differences.

The war is over and the danger has passed. Europeans were good to offer sanctuary to Syrians during their time of need.... but to demand that they remain occupying our land forever "because it's now mine" - that is very disrespectful . I don't think it's safe in Syria.And what I heard from the interview, it could take years! Europe won't wait that long. Europeans are tired of refugees and the cultural clashes and impact on the social fabric. It also becomes a problem when the local population doesn't feel safe any longer in various neighborhoods.

They will need help in a practical way. Lots of infrastructure tools and building materials. I can tell for certain they need a complete new cables for all sorts and pipe lines for water and sewage.
