HK china market already crashed as opposed to US bull run. There is a timing opportunity here. Discounts abound.

Hi, while waiting for the stock market to crush, where should we put our idle cash? Any advice on that? Thanks.
@TheFifthPersonChannel9 ай бұрын
It depends on your currency and amount. Singapore Savings Bonds, Fullerton SGD cash fund, U.S. T-bills are options. Some brokers also pay an interest on your cash holdings above a certain amount.

But when the market is actually really crashing like the HK and CN market, do you dare to buy haha?

Hi new subscriber here! Can you guys please do a comparison between investing in American stock vs Singapore stock. Apart from the obvious of market size and movement, what are the other pros and cons? Really enjoying the videos! Thank you!
@TheFifthPersonChannel6 ай бұрын
Thanks for subscribing! In a nutshell, the U.S. is great for growth and innovation, but we have to be aware of the 30% dividend withholding tax and estate tax. Singapore has slower growth, but it has a good selection of stocks and REITs that pay a steady dividend. Singapore also has no dividend tax. Hope this helps!

Wise words indeed. US market is terribly over valued. I don't have any exposure to US stocks but if I had I would drastically pare down my position. Yes the US market can make you big money real fast, but time it wrongly and you'll be burned badly. Not for me. I'm thinking that our market is disappointing so far but its much safer. When the big boys DO pull out of US where will they put their money? They'll likely go for "safer" options and our market, along with gold, should certainly qualify. Just my 2 cts worth...
@Anonymous_Lee199 ай бұрын
The SG market may seem "safer" from valuation perspective... However, I think it pays to have exposure to the US market. Whether investing in index ETFs or blue chip companies, you would have performed better investing in the US market (as compared to the SG market), even if you had invested at all-time highs.

Not sure whether you guys are interested in Japan stocks, but is it possible to discuss on the Japanese market? It seems that it is attracting more foreign investments than China at the moment despite the weakening yen.

You guys are all in Singapore and talking about the US markets, most of the time when i trimmed my stocks it goes back up again might as well just leave it alone and let it ride

As a Singaporean, I think it's very different to invest in the US market (as compared to the SG market)... In the US market, it will work if you invest in good companies and stay invested over a long period. In the SG market, you will not find multi-baggers using the same strategy. However, blue chip companies will fall 15-30% every few years and allow investors to make money. The money-making opportunities always appear like clockwork.

1:55 It's probably time to reevaluate our expectation of the Buffett Indicator. Pre-2000: The largest companies have little to no growth, and low margins (e.g. General Electric, Walmart, Intel, etc.). Post-2000: The largest companies have double digit growth, and high margins (e.g. Apple, Alphabet, Amazon, etc.).
