There is what we always called “The Dead Zone “ anytime you are pulling. It doesn’t matter if you are using chain, cable or rope. I have pulled feeder cables for 45 years, certified in rigging and lifting, off-road recovery and was an equipment operator. Pulling cable, I have seen a 7/8” Kevlar rope break and punch an 8” block out of a wall. The length of the line from point to point should determine the area (dead zone) that nobody should be in. That area is determined by the length x the radius from both ends.

WARNING: I worked for a man, who lost his leg from the knee down, doing just what your doing! They where pulling a loaded rail car on a set of tracks so they could load the next one. That cable, just like you just proved, when stretched too far, snaps like a rubber band and didn't care what's in it's way. Note, how close where your kids? Your lucky my friend. Just a warning. That cable wrapped around my ex bosses leg and did NOT stop there. Please use more caution!

@@toddincabo i totally agree... dp most certainly took plenty of care.. we all could hear him instructing the kids. And when the cable snapped the kids where even behind the golfcart. Even with the fact that cameras don't show angles very well they where at least 3 times the dozer with away.

That field clearly needed it.. and B. you guys and your toys did it right. Looks like that tileplow is getting a ton of use and it's doing the job well. It is amazing how well that the dozer and the tile plow is working together . That tile plow is the greatest idea and thing that you have ever made Mike . You all had to made back up and make a few changes, but I believe that you all have worked all the bugs out, and it is just amazing how that everything is working now . You will become known as the "Plow Man" and stay covered up in jobs, people wanting you to lay drain pipe . I have found that when using steel cable to pull stuff, old fire hoses are great to run the cable through and make it a lot safer if the cable breaks . 10,000 feet of pipe in 2 days is a good accomplishment and really didn't have any problems at all on this job . This was a super great video of you all doing a super great pipe laying job, and the dozer and tile plow could not of been asked to do any better, really, they both just worked amazing . I will see you all later so take care and stay safe and keep on laying pipe and digging and pushing dirt . As always, Jeffrey !!! 🤗👍💖💫

I would like to suggest that you put a parabolic curve on the tile entry point up top kind of like a tuba cone but with a rolled edge. You can see that there's unnecessary friction because of the edge of that current entry cone due to the clicking of every rib. Perhaps even a six or eight foot arc with a separate feed motor on top That engages every time you move forward to eliminate all drag and friction from having to lift and pull the tile along. It's probably not an extraordinary amount but every bit counts especially when you need to get pulled to buy a second dozer.

Thanks for a very thought provoking video Mike. All the early testing of the plow was done on your families property but this just might be your first paying customer and he must be very happy! With regard to the tow cable snapping, We use two heavy duty snatch blocks, one end attached to your equipment and the other to the tow vehicle. One side of the snatch block opens so you can put the rope or cable through quickly and doing this will mitigate safety concerns. The kinetic energy build up will be lowered at the snatch blocks. We use them on all our marine ways to pull large steel vessels out of the ocean. Cheers from Canada.

@DirtPerfect, you should look into building a "Tow" bar to use when you need to Pull the 850J with the 850BLT that way you are not having to rely on cables that can snap and kill someone or a chain that may or may not be strong enough. You could use the tie down holes on the front of the J an the tow point on the B to attach the Tow bar to, this could also allow the 850 b to steer the 850J a little.
