USA has advantage of being surrounded by oceans. USA controls those oceans therefore has the security. Whenever a naval power rose in atlantic or pacific, the USA entered into a war to defeat it.

Everything dies. However, large civilizations don’t die all at once. They die in stochastic steps as each collapsing stage finds it cannot adapt to on going situational or environmental changes. Eventually, it finds a civilizational level where adaptation is possible-or it goes extinct.

The U.S.A. is in decline in the sense that we got so used to rapid growth that the slower growth we're feeling feels like decline, and in the case of some infrastructural choices, is decline, because that infrastructure is dependent on continued fast growth, namely the suburbs and overbuilt road networks. However, looking at the future situation of the globe, the U.S. will not only remain on top but its relative position should improve even if the projections of growth don't look as rosy as they did in 1960. Changes in global oil supply and all its derivative industries, global demographics, agriculture, etc. are looking solid for the U.S., which can't exactly be said for most countries.

America is the only major/Advanced economy with More Millennials than Boomers in 2019 ...Shale Energy has let the US disconnect the last shred connecting us to the old world!! ... The US is between 25 %and 28% of Global GDP,and 50% of Consummation!! America can pick and choose who we trade with as the old world in Europe and Asia enter a demographic/economic death spiral! This happens everywhere that matters Except the USA!!!

The USA are in decline because their entire economy's advantage relies on fossil fuels and USD based international trade. In the Limit of Growth from Dennis Meadows, it is clear that fossil fuels availability declines with growing needs related to world population. With stress on economies, they will try desperately to remove their reliance to USD. By doing so US fossil fuel prices will rise sharply increasing economic stress and the evil loop spins to decline.

I favor readopting the foreign policy of George Washington, the first American President: "No entangling foreign alliances." A more recent American President expressed this even more succinctly: "America First." We aren't smart enough to run the world, and when we try, we make mistakes often enough. We are bound to get involved in immensely costly conflicts. if we continue to be the American World Empire. Why bother? We have only limited need for the rest of the world. Bring our military and navy home and let the rest of the world sort out their problems. They will, you know ---that's guaranteed. Besides --- I need a good laugh.

I will respectfully disagree with the gentleman. A society will dissolve when there is no unifying principles or set of ethics which define the people. While we have never had a complete, singular view of who we are... we have entered a period in which our differences seem unacceptable to our neighbors. Somewhat like the 1950's and Red Scare we now proclaim many things unAmerican. Our faith, our color, our hopes, dreams and aspirations are viewed as unAmerican. What happens next is unclear but we are no longer "us".

All empires decline is a useless statement though unless you are trying to conclude that the US won't be the strongest country on earth for billions of years. The devil is in the details. The US has a huge GDP based on consumer debt and government spending. We have a vast decaying infrastructure. We have the worst health care in the industrialized world. Our educational system ranks low in the global world. Income inequality is the worst in history. And I could go on. People like Friedman love to use "numbers" to prove a point. It's the quality of the numbers that counts.

U.S. superiority comes from the dollar. Not the bullshit in this video.
