There are three reasons why we are seeing this “crash”. You mentioned one, and that is the market is being flooded due to poor economy/people needing money. This causes more market competition and less demand. Related to this is the fact that people have less disposable income due to wild inflation. The third is that the market is settling after the 2020 boom, which caused raised prices and demand nearly universally. The graphs are now getting back to their natural trajectory although many titles will never get to their pre-pandemic numbers. This crash will be temporary, prices will stabilize and then continue their upward trajectory. Especially for systems approaching the 20+ year mark such as Wii/PS3/360/DS. Studying price trends over time, it appears to be quite cyclical and predictable. As adults come into more financial freedom they tend to want to revisit the systems they are nostalgic for and re-live those days. That’s generally why we see spikes at 20-25 years. This has been a trend since the NES and will continue. Only my two cents of course. I like hearing your insight though and I do hope on one hand prices get affordable so I can buy more games myself!
