Kim Mitchell came through Kirkland Lake a few years back. My wife and I were front and center. What a great Canadian rocker!🇨🇦🎸

I've seen Kim in his various iterations over the past 35 years, as well as the Webster reunion show at Lulu's in Kitchener in May, 1996. That line-up included Mitchell, McCracken, Watkinson, and Fredette. One of the best rock shows I've seen. I saw Mitchell most recently in Chatham, ON in March of 2020, just before things got silly. He still sounded great, and rocked the Webster HARD.

I literally can see myself in the Kelly's record store in Calgary the very day that Kim released his very first solo EP, and I still love it today

Kelly's downtown on 8th Ave. was a regular stop for me whenever I had some time off, when I was a young fella. I still have Akimbo Alogo with the original (blue) album cover ... and in a Kelly's protective plastic album sleeve. 😄👍🎶🎸. There was also a great record store on 17th back in the day that Mike Bezzeg (rest in peace, Mike 🙏), worked at (if memory serves).

When I saw max opening for rush at the moving pictures tour, Kim finished the set not in a good mood throwing his guitar at the roadie on the side of the stage. And a week later they broke up. Only Kim could comment on this, I am sure he knows after all these years. I love max Webster and Kim is great solo artist and great rock composer. Love the rhythm, and his feel, dynamic and modulations. Great artist and hope he carry on with his talent ...hello from Montreal

I saw Max Webster at my high school in 1978(Beamsville high school) also saw them at Maple Leaf Gardens a few years later. I got introduced to their music by s friend the night before the high school show. Was awestruck when I saw them first time. Saw Kim once in Fort Erie! Great talent, fond memories!

I think that when you have had a great band like Max people will always want something more, forever. That's a good thing because that means they were special. The thing that hurts is they worked their asses off and were not promoted like RUSH was. Max Webster music was so original. Kim is such a talented musician. We are so lucky to have Max music and Kim Mitchell music. Timeless stuff. If you love guitar playing this guy is the real deal. Always incredible, incredible guitar. So glad he's putting a new release out. Can not wait to pop the new cd in and let it grow.

Those are such awesome words, my friend. I really appreciate them, and I'm sure Kim and the guys from Max would, too. I have to admit, I've been listening to Rush for the last three decades, and I have only known about Max for the last three days. Why? Because I live in the States where Rush are treated like kings and where Max is virtually unheard of. That sucks, but Max, to me, always had more of a harder edge in their sound while Rush kept changing theirs. And that's what drew me to Max, especially when I heard "Paradise Skies" and "Check". But I will say both bands are great. And, yes, Kim is one heck of a guitar player. Again, he's hardly ever mentioned here in the States, but one could definitely learn a lot from him!

@@johndrake2729 Sadly so RE: Max Webster/Kim Mitchell. Being from Detroit, MI myself (a stone's throw away from Windsor & Kim's native Sarnia), I've always had an affinity 4 Canadian musicians. What socks even more? Kim's classified as a "1-hit 1der" in the USA (courtesy of "Go For A Soda"). Personally; I'll make my decisions btwn "LAGER & ALE" bc "I Am A Wild Party". I have the "Battle Scar(s)" 2 prove that. So."Let Go The Line" & take a trip 2 "Paradise Skies". That'll keep me in "Check".

My friends and I saw Max Webster numerous times throughout southern Ontario. The first time was at the Lester Pearson Theatre in Bramalea (300 people) promoting their very first album. What a fantastic show!!! I’ve been a HUGE Max and Kim Mitchell fan ever since.

Growing up in St Catharines, Ontario I saw Max Webster many, many times and as a guitarist myself, always considered him the best guitarist in Southern Ontario, next to Dominic Troiano. Extremely different genres, of course. He may even agree about that. They had an element or attitude similar to Zappa, in their own weird way and the local audiences knew all the lyrics! I believe the live audience intro recording of " The cat's in the bag. The neighbors holler....etc" was recorded at Uncle Sam's in Niagara Falls, if I am not mistaken. I was there that night, as I recall, but may have been in the same bag.

OK, so until a couple years ago I helped found and managed Floyd Factor, with Terry and his daughter Chloe both in the band. So I know a bit about it. Max did two one-off reunions already, and both were great. There won't be an extended reunion, because Kim's stance was "why should he split his concert revenues with 3 other guys, when he can play that stuff anytime and just pay his sidemen?" As usual, it was about money. Nowadays, there are also health issues that would make a tour very difficult. The second reunion at Sound Academy (The Docks) in Toronto was one of the best shows this city ever saw, though.

My older brother was in a band that opened for Kim on one of his EP club gigs and as a 17yr old kid sneaking into the Nag's Head North to see this show was a HUGE highlight for all of us... We met Kim and get this... Bob Ezrin was also there that night!! I was too awe struck to say hello to him, I mean come on, the guy produced Destroyer by Kiss and made them a house hold name!!! However... It was an amazing experience, one I'kll cherish forever...

It would be interesting to know if he would put Max Webster back together without the members who aren't interested in getting back together. I have seen Kim in concert on 2 different occasions. He was fantastic! Never saw Max Webster. Would love to see Kim do a Max Webster concert.

I was a huge Max fan in the 70's. I remember seeing them opening for Rush as well as a co-headline tour with the Ian Thomas band. I was leaning on the stage at that show and got a guitar pick of Kim's. Lol! At art college in the early '80s at ACA, my 2 Max Webster t-shirts regularly worn, had people calling me "Max" back then. Haha! Great Canadian band! One of the best! 🎸🎶👍❤.

I was biting my nails for a while, hoping Max would reform for Michael Werkle's (Dragon's Den) grand (re) opening of the El Mocambo in Toronto. I was lucky enough to catch Max back in '77 with my guitar teacher at Century Gardens in Brampton.....and have caught him numerous times as a solo artist. I recently saw him back in Feb (before the Covid lockdown) at the Rose Theatre, and the whole band were absolutely on fire!! I'd say about 50% of the show was Max Webster material, which satisfied everyone there. The thing that kills me about Kim, is that he's a horribly under-rated technical player.....take a listen to the intro of "In The World Of Giants". Lol, Mr. Mitchell was actually "shredding" before shredding was a thing!! Killer player, and his recent band are all top-notch musicians in their own right :)

I saw Max at Massey Hall in 77 and saw them again at Massey Hall in 78. I remember seeing Kim solo at Spats during 1983 Halloween, he was wearing a tutu lol fuckin great.. They were taking a break and as he was walking out I jumped up in front of him and told him I was a big fan, I forget what happened after that... blame the lager, ale and weed for not remembering 🤪. I do remember being there though, I drove there and back with my friends in my car totally fried.😵💫

Kim Mitchell is not the dude to query if Max Webster will reunite, ask Pye DuBois. Kim is an accomplished studio musician, whom made most of his money from a DJ gig on Q107 in the late 90s. Pye DuBois retired as a Mental Health Nurse on Queen St. in Toronto. A facility where he wrote every single Kim Mitchell hit song of the 80s and 90s(the royalties are staggering). Max Webster was originally a 'regionally' successful band throughout the province of Ontario. They never gained national prominence like the Tragically Hip, nor did they become popular like RUSH 'state' side. Max Webster was made-up of gifted musicians and highly intelligent individuals with vast creative abilities from the late 60s, early 70s culture. Kim Mitchell in-earnest simply does not want to give up his stranglehold on all things Max Webster as we remember them, as that is his unofficial brand.

Of course nobody called up Kim to say, "hey, join our band." He was too much talent to simply be a musician only.

I always thought that if Kim Mitchell and Rik Emmett after they were done with Triumph and Max, and ultimately Kim's and Rik's solo career....say around 1997....If they came out hard and put those 2 vocals as well as Kim's bass player , Peter Fredette's vocals...and hired a great well known drummer....even getting Gil Moore to fill that seat.........they could have called themselves MAXIMUM TRIUMPH and had another Damn Yankees type band and crushed it !!!....a band of hit making music , with 4 great vocalists and 2 of the best guitarists in Canadian History ( My Opinion)...and had cameos from Alex Lifeson once in a while....You Got Yourself one of the Greatest Bands in Canadian History....Man if they read this and got their egos out of their ass's back then ....but hardened up the music and only a few ballads, it would have been great...,,,it would have kicked that grunge shit right in the teeth !!!!.....meld that shit with some Pye Dubois writing....how the fuck would you go wrong ???
