You guys got lucky! Be careful with these old Detroits. The governor will leave the racks at WOT and if it sits for a long time they can get stuck in that position. So when you start it. You have a “ run away” Sweet bus tho

Pretty daring checking the air filters after the motor starts and not pulling the valve cover to determine if the rack is stuck or not. Daring and lucky so far. You'd have known quickly if rodents had nested or died in the air cleaners and a runaway engine with stuck open injectors would have been immediately apparent. Vintage interior for sure! Hope you know how to double clutch. It's 4 on the column isn't it?

Go into first hit the solenoid button. Then go straight back into second and that will be your reverse

The Detroit diesel is a workhorse. There is a governor adjustment that Bus Grease Monkey show on KZbin. That bus is great!

The reverse is actually worked buy an electric solenoid on the transmission and if I remember rightly you have to push the button and have it in third gear in order to make reverse kick in...try that guys.😊

To put that bus in reverse u need to put it in 1st hit a button on the panal to the left of the driver....pull shift straight down into second ur now in reverse

It was inherited, had to move it to a new location.

as a truck driver it probally has an non sync tranny so you're gonna have to learn how to double clutch and float gears. its a pain in the ass!
