Will This Abandoned Suzuki Bandit Run Again? (Rebuild Challenge!)

Okay, maybe I'm crazy…but who wouldn't want a FREE motorcycle?! This Suzuki Bandit is a mess (neglected for 4 years!), but I see potential. Follow along as I try to turn this rusty heap into a road-ready machine. We'll have wrenching, swearing, and hopefully, a sweet ride at the end! To add i'll be coming from a 125cc Chinese motorbike

Be careful with cheap carb kits as most of the parts won't likely fit. The tourmax kits are very good. Strip them down first as you may not even need to replace much, maybe just the float needles. Give the bare body's a good clean with petrol then finish off with carb cleaner making sure all passages are clear, be careful not to get any fuel or carb cleaner on the diaphrams as it will destroy them. No need for ultrasonic cleaning in most cases often its not done right and can do more harm than good. Definitely worth rebuilding the fuel tap as well, very simple and will save yourself a world of pain going forward. Also worth unscrewing the spark plug caps, cutting 10mm off the leads and re-fitting, also check the internal clips that grip the spark plugs are not all corroded away, replacements can be found online at fowlers or Robinson's foundry. Another vital thing is follow the earth lead from battery to frame\engine, undo the connections and clean up with some emery cloth, then protect them with some grease. the connections may not look bad but it doesn't take a lot to cause earth problems on a bandit. Subscribed, interesting to see another mk1 bandit get saved.

try SF PARTS if u havent already loads of bits for bandits, also SUZUKI PERFOFMANCE SPARES, although they not listed as breakers may be able to sorce u missing caliper and grab handles. Get a manual!!! clean carbs set float heights new gaskets ,change oil and filters and she will love it , and so will u take it easy if u coming from a 125 ,inspite of high miles they shift nice deal there.
