I just want to say THANK YOU for doing this car/suv my grandpa use to run a auto body shop and this was the very first car/suv that we worked on together back in 97/98 and he passed away in 2018 so it’s bringing back a lot of memories 😢😊 so thank you again mike for doing this.

The switch under the dashboard is a valet switch for the external alarm just in case the doors are left open or is going through the carwash the alarm will not go off but it works simultaneously with turning the key on and hitting the button turning the key back off the alarm existing will not go off.

I was hanging out with my security guard a few years back. (Extended stay Hotels) He was big, he was buff, he was raised in the hood, and guests never gave him any crap. That switch back in the day was used as a Valet switch, meaning you could put the alarm in valet in case someone parked the car for you. That relay take it out along with all that wiring, there should be an alarm module, it might be the reason it won't start. Remove all the alarm stuff cause of its there, it might be killing power to the starter

I agree, the valet nonsense from the factory plus an aftermarket alarm will kill all power to the ignition switch and maybe other components.

I used have one of those years ago and loved it. Mine was a Chevy Tracjer which was in fact a Suzuki Side Kick...exactly the same. We can't get those up in Canada anymore...long rusted away. Keep up the great work. MWM.

Mike the first thing to do if you get it running is shut it off and remove that clear line and replace it with a proper fuel line hose! I had a 406 ford with tri power thinking it looks better with the gas going thru the clear line to show of the bubbles in the fuel, big mistake. A tad over 12 miles on the first trip one or more of those clear lines melted and the Ford was burnt to a crisp. Insurance thought it was my fault for messing with the lines and other things and denied the claim.....Local insurance company could get away with their opinions in 1972. Have fun with it when you get it going careful going into and thru the corners, she will get just a tad squirrely... JD

The clear line was only for the milk jug. The steel fuel line attached to the throttle body.

In the eighties and nineties I owned some Jeeps and a Samurai, most of them came with a DIY kill switch, I am not sure exactly why it was so common to install one on that type of vehicle back then, but I believe that because of the outdoorsy nature of the vehicles they would often be driven to places like the lake, or campground. I suspect that going to places like that you wouldn't want to lose your keys, so if you have a kill switch (they were always sort of hidden in a random spot), you could leave your keys in it, and not worry about losing them in the middle of nowhere 15 years before you get your first cell phone.

I had a button like that on one of my and I played hell but I figured out if you close all the doors hood back latch whatever push the button step on the brake turn the key on it would reset thought about uninstalling it but it's some kind of an alarm system and there's more to it than just pulling it out😮😮 Ione 203 Suzuki Vitara and Grand Vitara they're excellent vehicles they never break down when they're running right and kept up

I am not sure about your Geo tracker but I do know that my 03 mataras has a rigid frame it has round tube cross beams and is built more like a Riesling chassis then a normal riveted chassis these Suzuki's in crash test ratings are one of the top dogs at least as far as my other threes go I've seen some other years p like 99-2004 have similar frames I'm unsure of the rest but even so I've known several people with those Suzuki sidekicks/Geo trackers and they've had really good luck with then they seem like a rigid frame even if they're not they must be riveted well

Hey Mike i had a 91 always wanted the hard top. Wife said no way at 1200 for after market. Anyways just wanted to give you a tidbit of what I went through trying to time it. The timing is set by number 4 cylinder at tdc. I tried setting on number 1 lol. Just had never heard that before. But im very old school cars. Like your videos
