You've improved at traditional asmr man. Your tapping, the general handling of items, the selection of items, the whispering and how well you mixed it with soft speaking for different preferences after the poll, all of it. Proud of you dude and thanks for all the hard work. Yours is a multifaceted channel that's going places.

I love that the title suggests ASMR is a noun. This gave me several ASMR’s. #ItIsWhatItIs
@jadefenner49715 жыл бұрын
Well, if you unpack the acronym, ASMR is an Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response, which makes perfect sense as a noun. Kinda the same way that you’d say a bodily response is a noun. It just sounds weird because the ASMR acronym has become really disconnected from the words that it stands for. (Also, sorry if this comes across in a negative way, I’m not trying to belittle your comment, I just really love language and your comment encouraged me to think about it)
@LetsFindOut15 жыл бұрын
Lol. I know it sounded weird but I guess it is technically how it should be used. And I was totally goofing on it is what it is because that phrase has got to be one of the most overused things I've heard in the past couple years haha

You should be a primary school teacher (or whatever the equivalent is for you) as I remember we had a teacher when I was a kid and he’d have the whole class glued just by making all information interesting and altering his voice to make everything better and when he read books OMG the whispering and the character voices were the best - you’d be amazing at all of that too...maybe you should volunteer to do storytelling at a library 🤔

@MasqueradeRiot5 жыл бұрын
For me I think its because I grew up in a large family that I could hear softly talking or moving about the house while I was trying to go to sleep. So maybe the comfort knowing someone is there trying to be quiet so you can sleep. Soft noises are also a big change from the daily grind so maybe that's why they are soothing?
@kayvonlee5 жыл бұрын
My theory... It stems from being babies and being comforted & soothed to sleep. ASMR triggers that safe and carefree feeling that allows us to relax and makes us sleepy 😴.

With the soap topping, if you close your eyes and completely zone out, it sounds a lot like the crackling and popping of a calm fire. I wouldn't be surprised if many of the most popular ASMR sounds are proxies for the kind of ambient noise we would ancestrally have experienced during communal evening times back in prehistory

Other primate species (and other species in general) groom each other as a bonding, trust building social interaction. I heard somewhere that some studies of ASMR found that the region of the brain that activates during grooming (say, in chimpanzees), is the same region that is activated when someone experiences ASMR. An evolutionary relic from primate origins.

@braedenhunter65015 жыл бұрын
Many of you may think that his purpose for not dropping the soap was a clever joke about the epidemic of sexual abuse within prison, and while this is one possible theory, I would like to provide another. To me, it is obvious he did not want to drop the soap because that would be cruel, and it quite clearly reads on the soap bar that it is in fact ‘cruelty free’. Just an idea.
