Lovely original looking Bonnie. I have 76 and love it. It makes sense about bikes not selling in their production year and therefore being Titled for the following year. Your bike is a 1975 bonneville, of which not many were made.

I had a 1973 Triumph 750 Tiger...same thing as yours except a single carb. Back when it was new! What a sweet bike. Handled really well. You get used to the right hand shift really quickly.
@navscyclesАй бұрын
Sweet! And yah the only problem is I’m use to the BSAs which have opposite shift patterns but I pretty much got it down in the first ride.

Known by us old british lads, an export bonnie. Those handlebars and peardrop tank were not on the uk spec machines as standard. This is a 5 speed , oil in frame machine, I had a 650 4 speed, which was more reliable and quicker... have fun.
@navscyclesАй бұрын
Yah this handle bar is actually tolerable the higher handle bars look awful. We always put uk spec bars on our bikes this one I will leave

I’ve owned numerous triumphs. T100, T120, T140, and T150. Of all of them, the T140 vibrated the worst. My ‘79 T140D vibrated so badly it cracked the frame! Anyway, I owned and rode all my triumphs in the 70’s/80’s. While I personally have zero interest in ever owning another old Brit bike, the enduring appeal of these bikes is simple to understand. Have fun, but be careful not to damage it. More damage was done to those old bikes by owners with wrenches than anything else.

good job those 76's run and handle well.
@frankie1615Ай бұрын
that must be the best bonneville ever made , I mean it started 2nd kick after 7 years , unbelievable , and it ran that well !

Original undamaged Cheese Head screws on timing cover. These soft metal screws were a pain and were replaced with Cap screws as a matter of course. This could mean the Engine has never been dismantled.

ive owned a few british bikes bsas and truimphs and best handling bikes you can get the sound is awesome they have character

British bikes definitely have lots of character

Before you fill up the oil tank, check on the sump plug as the oil in the engine will drain to the bottom of the engine,otherwise you could start it & get a hydro lock
@navscyclesАй бұрын
Yah i believe i mentioned in the video i assumed the oil was in the sump. I added some after it ran for a while but thanks for the tip, next video it will get an oil change regardless

You are living my dream life! Check the valve clearance to be safe. Thoroughly clean ad lubricate All the cables. Check the carb manifolds for air leaks, but don't tighten the manifold bolts too much because that can cause the manifold to warp.

A full over look of this bike will be coming soon, doesn't need much but after all the time its been sitting I might as well give it the basics and a little more.

Change online glass fuse to automotive under seat. You be glad. And not know it. Get some 93a batteries for rear brake tail.

Hey I'm no expert. But I had a x t140 V 73 Bonneville. For a long time. My favorite bike. So the things I'm saying about HD 30, and monthly, never have bearing failure. You can make your own gaskets for oil filter plate, and high heat cilicone.

Ive never had a Triumph twin. Ive had Tridents, 1968 Royal Enfield Interceptor MK I 1/2 750, Triumph Hurricane, BSA Lightning, BSA 441 Victors on and on. Triumpg triple in Trackmaster frame. Norton and Trident are great on the road.

You've got the basis of a nice old bike there with a bit of fettling (and a working front brake...)

Duuuude. She is a diamond. Service it. Put a tiny squirrel of graphite in the trans. Change the oil, monthly. Penzoil HD 30. You'll never have bearing failure. Listen.

This Triumph has a drum rear brake and right hand shift, making it a 1975.

The US Government mandated standardization of controls. The mandate was to go with the way Japanese bikes were done. Always a good idea to drain carbs on any bike if it is going to sit.

You are killing me with this video. I had a 76' Bonneville. I had it from 76 to 95 I never should have traded it in. Now yours is not a 76' a 76' has not only a left side gear shift and a rear disc brake. I had a surgery that kept off of mine for over a year with the old gas in it it fired up on the first kick after sitting over a year.

Hello Wisconsin! Good stuff my friend. I’m in a small town east of Madison. I’ve specialized in 73 and up OIFs for 35 years. If you need any pointers let me know. These are great bikes and that one must’ve had a pretty good previous owner to start right up after all that time. ( Non Ethanol Fuel for starters).
@navscyclesАй бұрын
Hey thanks for watching! I think I got lucky with it, that or maybe the po took some precautions. And yes I never use ethanol fuel in any of my bikes.
