The difficulty flying the helicopter: Oh the days before drones

@KandiKlover14 күн бұрын
Quadcopters aren't drones. They're just multirotors and only called droned to mass market to low IQ fad boys like yourself. Also they fly more precisely and better than chinese DJI junk if you actually have the skill.

my only problems on the boat myth was if you watch the impact... the boat doesn't turn. the front wheel hydroplanes and still is going straight. the second issue is that water acts a lot different since the boat would have to push against it to deflect. if the boat was turning into it and the water countered the deflection... it might still split. maybe not at 25 mph but much higher. so technically it's still busted.
@Dalton129422 күн бұрын
The build team did retest the myth in water in a episode from the 2013 season and re-busted the myth

If the cops asked me how fast I was going when I almost split my boat in half ……. I would also say 25 mph 😅

I wonder why not just place the boat at an angle on top of the trailer? It might not travel super straight but you would surely get it to impact at an angle.
@themauler159920 күн бұрын
One of the reasons why the large scale boat crash didn't work is because the turn doesn't do anything to change the impact. When Tory rammed the boat by hand, the impact came in at an angle because he was moving the boat diagonally. Turning the boat via a wheel does change the direction of the boat, but the velocity and the boat are pointing in the same direction. At the moment of impact the turning boat and the straight ahead collision are nearly identical. To change that you would have to literally shove the boat with a huge force horizontally. Since boats, and most vehicles, aren't designed to suddenly juke perpendicular to the direction they're facing, this would never work. You'd be much better off lining it up for a head on collision and hoping that you've perfectly aligned the point of the boat with the curvature of the pole. Option B would be to create some crazy strong towing cable that whips the boat into the pole because turning your wheels 90° would just cause it to flip and fail. Of course the other reason it failed is because 25MPH was a huge lie, or the guy made his own speed boat out of aluminum foil and hope.
@MeepChangeling20 күн бұрын
IMO the boat in the photo was likely tossed via a wave and hit the pole due to that, not its own power. I've been in boats about that size on some rough seas for fishing. Even small 2 foot high waves can REALY throw a boat that big if you hit them weird. I can remember the bottom of the boat undulating and making sounds like a hammer as it smacked into the sea after getting lifted out. If we'd hit something solid, that boat would have been damaged for sure.
@themauler159920 күн бұрын
@MeepChangeling that is true, the photo shown didn't really give a lot of perspective on the original incident but an unfortunately directed wave could have thrown the boat in a different direction and given it more force than 25 MPH on any speedometer
@classicalextremism15 күн бұрын
The big issue was they assumed the water surrounding the boat was a non factor. The water along the sides prevents it from bouncing and turning like their air straddled models, and there is a column of water behind the boat that pushes it forward adding to its momentum. Just do a sudden power down on a boat and the tail end will pick up as you get pushed forward by your own wake. Striking the pole nose on would be more likely to make the boat roll than skid. You have pressure in on one side, and a vacuum effect on the other. Depth under the keel would also be a factor in shallow water.
@fireballninja0112 күн бұрын
honestly like, 25 is a very Useful speed to be going at. Perhaps the dude from the newspaper article was going a lot faster, but in a residential area or some sort where there was a speed limit of 20, 25, or 30 miles an hour, meaning that he lied in order to not seem culpable?
@fireballninja0112 күн бұрын
the only other thing would be how much is in the rest of the boat. if the boat is packed to such a brim that 25 miles per hour is a hell of a lot more momentum/inertia, that might do something
@srf211210 күн бұрын
They got it totally wrong thinking the boat bifurcation test would be identical on land. The part of the boat partially submerged in the water would be held by the water somewhat helping to prevent the boat glancing off to the side so easily.

About the boat. I may have missed it but I did not hear them talk about the force the water would create towards the pole due to a boat with a v haul is ment to cut thowe the water like a track and that's why when you turn from rear of boat it urns as if on a front pivot so when the boat hits the pole in the water the force towns the pole from the fusalodge wanting to go strate would add forec to the accident and in the direction of the pole reducing the boats turning out apon impact so to do the experiment justice one would have to do it in water or find out the amount of force the water creates
@jacobpettes33519 күн бұрын
If the hull was brittle enough that the initial impact could open a crack all the way up the middle then this might work. Without a crack opened, the blunt pylon has to force itself through several feet of fiberglass, which would take thousands upon thousands of pounds of force. They would have to nail that pylon at a very high speed to get that result.

@ConLustig16 күн бұрын
Okay buuuut if you’re transporting a large number of birds you’re probably driving a poultry truck and a traditional poultry trucks have a lot of ventilation so ..if they are getting some lift from the air flowing through the truck that is not necessarily exerting downward force in a closed environment…maybe???
@stephenkamenar17 күн бұрын
should've showed that if you pickup something in the truck that the weight goes down (pickup with a long arm outside the truck). not that that's necessary but would be nice to see the sensors working
@evandaymon83038 күн бұрын
Myth is the object has to do the decrease of weight without aid. That would not prove myth to be true because it has help from outside source.

Maybe they should try to fly the drone/'copter with open slats at the bottom of the trailer so the downward wash would escape outside the envelope to open the system to that and, maybe, turbulence by outside pressures.
@bannedcabron13 күн бұрын
Oh, yeah, the trailer can't be hermetically sealed lest the live birdies parish, so the pigeons could still fly and the pressure could still leak out.
@thebigpest2138Ай бұрын
what you are missing in the boat test is water pressure on the opposite side of you contact point. it might have made a difference. 😉

I feel like the weight of the small scale chamber was unaffected due to the helicopter being attached to those tiny rods which were grounded to the chamber.

They were just guide rods (rods attached to the helicopter slide into open tubes on the floor). Just keeps it centered, doesn't attach to the base

When the birds stand in the trailer, their feet have friction with the ground, transferring their weight directly to the trailer. When they fly, the air has no friction against the ground and just swishes around. It should weigh less than before, but not enough to make an overweight truck become safe.
