This week we venture downstream on the Kennet and Avon, the first time we've been back that way since our disastrous maiden voyage on new waters! We remember some areas were a tight fit on the way up and wonder whether it has become more overgrown and we will fit! PS additional note, I don't have bow thrusters remember that when and if you watch the turn on the very narrow bit. Narrow boats struggle going down there. All in reference to my prior post.

Very nice. Gosh it gets a bit squashed in parts. Mind you taking a widebeam through probably helps to keep a slightly wider gap. Have a lovely weekend!

If the locks were destroyed, it could prevent the movement of war materials up the canal to war production sites.

how did you learn how to navigate? did it take long? cz the boat is not the smallest and the steering at the back seems pretty hard

When we first got the boat two and a half years ago we just sort of went for it but we were on the Thames with lots of space and we went out a lot! Since then Richard has become a helmsman instructor so he’s fabulous at navigating especially in the tight spaces on the K&A and he has taught me (Hayley) like anything the more you practise the quicker you learn 😁
