@@akhsdenlew1861 no. Most alliances are born from common interest or cultural ties. Very very rarely are 2 serious geopolitical rivals actually engaged in formal alliances. And the sino Soviet split is exactly the kind of thing that happens in every example of that case. At least when the compeating powers are peers. The kind of alliance you refer to tends to be temporary and dangerous think the Alliance between Russia and Germany in WW2 On the other end of the spectrum you have alliances like the British and Portuguese that have existed for nearly 700 years Most nations Make allies with those they share common interests with. Which is why historically speaking very very few treaties have ever been broken relative to the number entered into. This scenario is like if France and Britain allied to fight Austria during the 100 years war. But never actually fought because they were too afraid of the HRE. Very rare and very weird

@Ярослав Л Well it's kind of true, I think. I mean Russia is not the Soviet Union, it shares no ideological common ground with China
@scorpioneldar3 жыл бұрын
@@byngfreundlich4519 you are indeed correct the modern Russian federation has little in common with the Soviet Union aside from both occupying the domain of the old empire of Russia. The Russian federation is indeed almost the opposite of communism. The modern structure is that of an oligarchy wherein the wealthy business owners control much of the political activity in the nation. Modern Russia has 3 major rivals China Europe and a maritime conflict with Canada. The US modern and Russia mostly have issues because their allies are opposed. Of these three China is by far the greatest threat to the territorial integrity of the nation. Europe needs to do quite a bit of militarizinf and unifying before it can pose a serious threat. And while Canada has annoying legal claims in the North Sea it has little ability to enforce them without us aid. Which won’t be present for any kind of offensive operations. But China has high population centers on the border of Russian low population land and they are both competing to dominate Central Asia. From this perspective Russia strengthening its Tyra with the US is logical it weakens 2 groups they have problems with and gives China other things to think about than their rather sparsely populated border or the road to Europe right through Russia’s soft under belly

It did not rule a potential Russian invasion of Ukraine, in fact it said it is possible, however the video stated that a invasion of Ukraine would most likely not cause a WW3. In which so far it has been correct, since NATO are not planning on committing any troops. However it did state that Russia might pivot towards the states, which clearly is currently not possible, but, this war seems to be a massive strategic blunder on the part of Putin which could signal the beginning of the end for his regime, if so we could see a power change in Russia, what type is unpredictable, but if Putin was to be deposed and if the Oligarchs don't just replace him with another dicator, Russia could go demoratic which would for certain cause Russia to pivot towards the west, overall this video wasn't wrong about the WW3 scenario, and potentially accidentally correct about Russias western pivot.

*VIDEO SUGGESTION:* What if China's Qing Dynasty was never overthrown?
@liborkozak89383 жыл бұрын
My amateur theory: Japanese invasions and the WW2 would end up the same. China would side with West in Cold War so there wouldn't be communism in SEA and Korea would be united - No Korean or Vietnam wars or on much smaller scale and won by West. China would drift away from West maybe something like Sino-Soviet split, because of nationalistic sentiments. China would become something like constitutional monarchy with nationalistic government. Korea would be the bridge between US Pacific allies and China and more conservative (Less K-pop I guess). Chinese economy would be decade or two behind - more agrarian too. The population would be higher and wouldn't peek that soon and the demographics would be better if there is enough food for the people. Yeah and the culture would stay without the communists' Cultural Revolution. Better for Chinese in long term then Communists I guess. If I missed something it's either same or I don't know how it will go.
@mappingshaman52803 жыл бұрын
@@liborkozak8938 1: I doubt it. A large part of the success behind the Japanese invasion of china was the fact china was in a state of warlordism and civil war following the collapse of the qing dynasty.. If the qing dynasty never collapses there will be no civil war or warlords meaning the qing will be able to deploy everything against the Japanese. 2: Again I don't it. Why would qing side with the same people who colonised it and took enough of its power that it almost collapsed? Especially as qing was trying to industrialise before it collapsed. If qing survived, it would likely industrialise and become a third side to the cold war. 3: Probably accurate 4: Again doubt it. A reason the Chinese economy didn't really improve until the 1970s was the civil war and warlordism followed by maoism. If it didn't collapse qing would probably keep growing and probably be where it was in the 70s in OTL by the 1950s,

I personally believe WW3 will not be a traditional war like the first two but more like a bunch of simultaneous civil wars all fought at the same time. Kinda like the crisis of the 17th century or the revolutions of 1848. the reason for this is mostly because your not seeing battle lines being drawn between the nations like in the past, but rather in the nations them selves. this is consistent across Europe America and even in Asia. another contributing factor to my theory is that the Globalist system made at the end of the 2nd world war is both a blessing and a curse namely it's been responsible for the greatest period of relative stability in human history but it's so dependent both economically and militarily on the US, that if anything were to happen in the states that would force the US to withdraw into itself the whole system would collapse likely taking everyone down with it. And finally nearly all the major players that could fight a third world war are facing down demographic and economic collapse. And a massive war against another major power would only hasten this process which everyone wants to avoid.

The United States and Russia have incredibly different yet also strangely similar national characters and spirit. The Russians are very communal where America represents the 'rugged individualist' ideal, but both are massive land empires with vast and beautiful wildernesses, incredibly wide-reaching diplomacy originating from a more contiguous and political form of colonization as well being shared victors of the Second World War, both have very distinct literary and cultural accomplishments, and both even had cowboys (I hear the Russians call them 'Cossacks'). For all their historical, religious and cultural differences, a Russo-American alliance would be one for the ages, especially with the EU behind them and the PRC in front.
@Shadowgunner7853 жыл бұрын
The analysis near the end i think is pretty well thought-out, despite the friendly relations between Russia and China, that doesn't mean they have entirely the same objectives at least geopolitically. Plus they will most likely have to fight each other over control of Central Asia which is traditionally Russia's backyard. This will lead to events similar to the Sino Soviet split, and this could even be exploited. Though if the US were to exploit this they would have to be careful and not make the same mistakes we made with china in the 1970's-early 1990's.

With the exception of one or two nations, world wars 1 and 2 were essentially a clear cut, us against them scenario. Two clear cut, and easily definable sides facing off against each other. WW3 however, in my opinion will be more of a three to 4 way tussle. You’d have the USA and allies against China in the Indo-Pacific regions. In the Middle East, you’d have Israel, the Saudi’s and possibly even the Turks up against the Iranians (the enemy of my enemy is my friend type deal) and in Europe you’d have Russia vs the rest. Now at various different points, I’m sure there would be overlapping interests and areas of conflict. And there would definitely be a lot of back door deals to help one faction bloody the nose of a player that they’re not currently fighting. For example, I could see either Russia or the USA smuggling weapons to the Uighurs to cause problems for China. Similarly I could see China helping Iran to cause problems for the Saudis. The Europeans could fund campaigns in the caucuses to upset the Iranians. Or the turks could help the Uighur’s to cause problems for China.

I don't know. The Russian government has been making it pretty clear recently that they don't expect a reset of relations anytime soon. I think there was a possibility of more amicable relations which could have led to an alliance at the beginning of Trump's term, but after a few months in, it was pretty clear that wasn't going to happen. He was the only major voice who suggested cooperation with Russia and Syria in the election. Later on, while it was clear he still wanted good relations, American foreign policy still continued to act in opposition to Russian interests. Also, I think the current relationship between China and Russia will remain as it is until the US finally kicks the bucket. Without the main pillar of the international system we've established since the end of ww2, the threat of a damaging conflict will subside, and then they'll probably go back to being rivals.
