Hello Tony and Ayo. As a Ghanaian- American born in Ghana with my American born sons, I too had to make the same decisions for my sons when living in Ghana, 12 years ago. Both sons attended a British international school and with my 14 yo Getting ready for high school and ultimately SATs and college and the younger in elementary school, we decided to move back for the kids. I agreed to move back to Ghana when they both graduate university and working - for me that’s next year and I can’t wait.

I went to Ghana in September. While it wasn't with Tony, I had an amazing, life-changing experience. Every person, especially the diaspora, must visit Ghana. You must have an experienced tour guide, but you must come!

Kids are so resilient don’t change your lives for them. Do what we did in the United States when we moved to Florida from Philadelphia. Get them tutors. Don’t make school hard for them.

The best thing for children education is to have them educated in Ghana to finish their high school education to get the African training of respect, good nature, and hard work. You let them have their university education in USA or Europe

Hi Ayo and Tony, I really loved the fact that you both were committed to Ghana. However, I understand the issues completely. I believe your marriage is strong therefore if you wanted to explore letting Ayo and the boys live in America during the school year and then stay in Ghana for the summer could possibly work and then Tony could jump on a plane a few times during the school year to visit. I think you should be able to keep the business, it’s going good so far. Try to make it work where you both get something you want. Otherwise resentment could endanger your relationship in the long run. You have a “Modern Day” marriage, be creative!! No matter your final decision, We are all rooting for you!!!

Hi, we are here in Ghana visiting. My husband is pretty interested in moving here, so we came to see. I have 2 in college in the USA and even after they graduate I don’t want to live so far away. The kids would definitely not live in Ghana. You both have a very difficult decision to make.

Greetings Expat Life Ghana, “Ayo and Tony”! One thing is for sure, you both have quite a conundrum in the decision-making process ahead. You both have an array of options in your personal as well as business endeavors. I am highly concerned about the geopolitical and economic situation there in Ghana. However, I am aware of the immense possibilities there on the continent of Alkebulan, AKA Africa being that the new scramble for Africa is well underway with China and their awful human rights record leading the way. I do like the fact that China doesn’t give Africa lectures, but rather, new infrastructure, architecture, and loan forgiveness. African Americans as well as other Black Africans in the diaspora need to get in on the entrepreneur possibilities there on the continent by polling their financial resources and mindset in order to establish a manufacturing base using the massive resource base on the continent . Ayo and Tony, I completely understand the mental struggle you are going through. I married my Ghanaian wife in 2014. In 2016 my wife and Ghana son Kofi left Ghana to join me in Canada. Kofi attended high school here. His friends are here. When he marries, no doubt it will be a Canadian girl. Will he move back to Ghana? Very unlikely. The economic opportunities just aren't there. So that leaves my wife and I. Do we really want to move back to Ghana and leave all of our family behind? And it's not as if housing is such a bargain in Ghana that we can maintain two households. At least not with the savings we have. So, at least for us, it seems we will simply be frequent visitors. I pray you find a shared solution that keeps you all together.

They can still school in Ghana to the University level and then go and do thier masters in the U.S. My African American friend did that for her two boys and it worked perfectly for her.

Totally agree that Ghana needs good trades people. But they are hard to find! And I'm pretty sure the pay for the trades is not great. The Ghana Technical Vocational Education System is trying to polish the trades. Make them more attractive to kids coming out of JHS. But there is a distance to go...

Taking your Black sons back to a place that doesn't respect and/or treat them as a human? They will never truly be recognized as a MAN. There are other African countries to try. I'm from the States living in Africa. Had enough of worrying about my Black sons being harassed by the "law", and being discriminated against in education, employment etc. I could write a book about raising Black sons in the US. My son's are law abiding respectful and are not criminals. It didn't matter, they only saw their color. Being in Africa, I no longer worry if my son will make it home safely. Peace and Blessings.

You’re so right about the situation for black youth in U.S. My sons are grown men now I worry about the grandchildren. Education is a promise not kept for our children here so they need more than education . Family, friends and God are ours to teach and theirs to learn. Contentment can be found in Ghana. That would have been something they would have appreciated for life. There are many many kids from Ghana schools that goes to college in America and do very well.

After a month in Ghana, I would not recommend this place for westerners with an adventurous lifestyle. Nor would I recommend Ghana for Americans with children, especially teenagers. The culture is very different and can be offensive to westerners. Poor infrastructure, Americans are walking banks to the people in Ghana. Most if not all encounters is about money. American children with a 55” tv and gaming console will not relate to the average Ghanaian child. If Americans coming here because of skin color will learn fast about human behavior. It’s tribalism here.

When I go to your channel and look up the videos, your more recent videos don't show up. Look, normally I go to your channel, I click the video link, and I see all of your videos beginning with the most recent. Now when I do that the first video I see is 5 months old. I was under the impression that you quit the channel. For months I did this and only saw the videos that are 5 months old or older. Then one day I did a search on KZbin and I saw this and another video that is new. These videos do NOT show up if I go to your channel and hit the video link, where all the other videos are. This is FYI, maybe you want it like that, or maybe you didn't know it was like that.
