Final update: this little reel is the little engine that could kzbin.infoUgkxSlytCJqozTF7EbdP4LWP-HUXf9WRDJ0e . It performed flawlessly and was easy to adjust drag in the moment while I was battling a 35lb bat ray behemoth. Mind you, this reel is spooled with only 25 lb braid and 25 mono topshot. It's paired with the kastking telescopic heavy power rod and the two work well together. This has now earned my respect and confidence when traveling and fishing. If you have ever hooked into large rays and sharks, you know they pull extremely hard and can run forever! This thing clamped down on the fish and was easy to adjust during the fight. It has a nice decently fast retrieve as well. Twice the fish went on mad runs and I was able to gain back line quickly to avoid spooling.

We are so glad we found your videos. Me, my wife, my 9 year old daughter, and 3 year old son love watching them and we have learned so much from your videos. We are new to freshwater fishing so all your advice is very helpful. We would like to see more about where your casting. I'm not sure if you have a video showing more of where your hook is landing. To give us a better idea about where we should be aiming for when we throw. I know sometimes its hard and it really does take practice to get it where you want it but it helps to know where we should be aiming. Again forgive us if this is a silly question or request. But we've only ever fished from saltwater docks and piers. We recently bought a boat so we are jumping into freshwater rivers (St. John River) and lakes (Lake Poinsett, Lake Winder). Thank you for any advice and please keep the videos coming we love them. You guys are awesome.

So I tried your dead sticking and tapping the back of the rod. My lake is around 85 on the surface. I was able to catch my PB at 4.5lb(I live in CT). And many other sizes in the boat.
